Chuviscar River
The Chuvíscar River is a river of Mexico. It is a tributary of the Rio Conchos, which in turn flows into the Rio Grande. It flows through the Mexican state of Chihuahua, directly through the state capital, the city of Chihuahua. It rises in a place called Cañada del Chivato, in the municipality of Chihuahua. One of its tributaries is the Sacramento River. Rio Conchos
The Río Conchos (Conchos River) is a large river in the Mexican state of Chihuahua. It joins the Río Bravo del Norte (known in the United States as the Rio Grande) at the town of Ojinaga, Chihuahua. Description The Rio Conchos is the main river in the state of Chihuahua and the Rio Grande's largest tributary. The Conchos has several reservoirs that make use of its water for agricultural and hydropower uses. Course The Conchos rises in the Sierra Madre Occidental in the municipality of Bocoyna, Chihuahua, where it heads east and receives several tributaries along the way. Sacramento River (Mexico)
The Sacramento River is a short river in Mexico, the main tributary of the Chuvíscar River, which in turn is a tributary of the Rio Conchos which runs entirely through the state of Chihuahua to the Río Bravo. History On February 28, 1847, a Mexican army in a defensive position was engaged by an advancing U.S. Army and was defeated along the river during the Mexican–American War. The engagement, fought about fifteen miles north of Chihuahua, is known as the Battle of the Sacramento. The American victory permitted their army to occupy Chihuahua unopposed on March 2.
