Churchill Arms FC
PEI FC is a senior men's amateur soccer club from Charlottetown, PEI. The team is composed mainly of current and former UPEI Panthers#Men's Soccer, UPEI Men's Soccer players. They were the 2008–2013 provincial representative for Prince Edward Island at the The Challenge Trophy, BMO Canadian National Soccer Championships and were the 2010 The Challenge Trophy, Challenge Cup champions. History NSSL From 2000 to 2007, the team was known as Breakers FC/VUFC. In 2007 and 2008, the team played in the Nova Scotia Soccer League due to a lack of a premier league on Prince Edward Island. As Avondale Islanders, the team finished 3rd (2007) and 4th (2008) in the NSSL, did not compete in playoffs, and represented PEI at the BMO National Championships. Charlottetown
Charlottetown is the capital and largest city of the Canadian province of Prince Edward Island, and the county seat of Queens County. Named after Queen Charlotte, Charlottetown was an unincorporated town until it was incorporated as a city in 1855. UPEI Panthers
The UPEI Panthers are the men's and women's athletic teams that represent the University of Prince Edward Island in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada. The UPEI Panthers have teams playing in the Atlantic University Sport (AUS) conference of the U Sports, including men's and women's ice hockey, soccer, basketball, cross country running as well as women's rugby. The women's field hockey team competes in an Atlantic league where the winner is then allowed to compete in the U Sports playoffs. UPEI also offers a club-level men's rugby team. Prince Edward Island
Prince Edward Island (PEI; ) is one of the thirteen provinces and territories of Canada. It is the smallest province in terms of land area and population, but the most densely populated. The Challenge Trophy (french: Trophée Challenge) is a national amateur soccer cup in Canada contested by the champions of individual provincial soccer competitions. It is one of the oldest soccer competitions in Canada, being held since 1913. It is run by the Canadian Soccer Association. Teams from all provinces did not enter the competition in each year, and it was contested by Western Canada in its last years. Calgary Callies
The Calgary Caledonian Football Club, better known as the Calgary Callies, is a Canadian soccer club which currently plays in the Alberta Major Soccer League. History This club was founded on April 26, 1904. Over the years they have become a dominant club in Alberta and Canadian soccer. In 2007, the Canadian Soccer Hall of Fame inducted the Calgary Caledonians from 1907 as a team of distinction. Calgary Caledonians were unofficial champions of Canada in 1907, 1908 and 1909 winning the People's Shield in each of those years. They won the championship of Western Canada in 1906 by beating Minnedosa 2–0 in Manitoba. Ryan Anstey
Ryan Anstey (born May 13, 1983) is a Canadian former professional soccer player. He played in 2006 for Toronto Lynx, where the Lynx finished second in the Open Canada Cup. Anstey also won a national championship with his hometown Churchill Arms FC in 2010. In 2005, he was named Canadian University player of the year. Before turning pro Anstey played 5 years, in the Canadian Interuniversity Sport league (now U Sports), for the UPEI Panthers. Ryan's five years with the Panthers, he scored 43 career regular season goals, ranking him 3rd all-time in the conference behind Jeff Hibberts and Ross Webb, but first in his school's history. In 2005 Anstey led the Nation in scoring with 15 goals in only 8 games played, winning by a 4-goal margin. He was named a First Team Conference All-Star for the third consecutive year. 2010 Scotties Tournament Of Hearts
The 2010 Scotties Tournament of Hearts, the Canadian women's national curling championship, was held from January 30 to February 7 at the Essar Centre in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. The event was described as having a weaker field than normal, as many of the usual provincial champions did not qualify. The event featured only two teams that have won the Scotties before: Jennifer Jones who qualified as last year's champion, and Kelly Scott of British Columbia. Making her first trip to the Scotties as a skip is Saskatchewan's Amber Holland, who won the 2008 Players' Championships. Ontario will be represented by Krista McCarville who won a bronze medal at the 2009 Canadian Olympic Curling Trials. Kathy O'Rourke
Kathleen O'Rourke (born April 30, 1964) is a Canadian curler from Cumberland, Prince Edward Island. She is a six-time provincial champion and is a former Canadian Mixed Champion. She is currently the coach of the Suzanne Birt rink. Career O'Rourke played in her first national women's championship in 1989, playing second for Kathie Gallant. The team finished 4–7. In 1991, she made it again, playing second for Angela Roberts, finishing 2–9. She made her third trip in 1996, playing third for Susan McInnes, finishing 6–5. This qualified the team for a tie-breaker match, which they lost to the defending champion Connie Laliberte (Team Canada) rink. In 1999, she returned once again, playing third for Rebecca Jean MacPhee, finishing with a 6–5 record once again, but missing the playoffs.
