Church Of La Asunción (Almansa)
The Church of la Asunción (Spanish: ''Iglesia Arciprestal de la Asunción'') is a Roman Catholic church located in Almansa, province of Albacete Spain. Construction of the church at this site in the then-expanding town was chosen in 1524. A number of architects including maestro Marquina, Maestro Pedro, Maestro Juan de Aranguren, Juanes de Segura, and Juan de Urrea took the work to 1579. The late-Renaissance portal has a relief depicting the ''Annunciation'' and ''Assumption of the Virgin''. The façade was started in 1619-1624 by Francisco de Figuerola. Work continued on the sacristy, various chapels, and the bell-tower into the later half of the 18th century. From 1789 to 1805, Bartolomé Rivelles worked on the apse. Almansa
Almansa () is a Spanish town and municipality in the province of Albacete, part of the autonomous community of Castile-La Mancha. The name "Almansa" stems from the Arabic (al-manṣaf), "half way of the road". The municipality borders with Alicante, Valencia and Murcia. Almansa is famous for its '' Moros y cristianos'' festival celebrated from 1 to 6 May. Almansa is built at the foot of a white limestone crag, which is surmounted by a Moorish castle, and rises abruptly in the midst of a fertile and irrigated plain. About south of the town centre stands an obelisk commemorating the Battle of Almansa fought there on 25 April 1707 during the War of Spanish Succession, in which a French, Spanish and Irish army under command of the duke of Berwick, a natural son of James II, routed the allied British, Portuguese and ''Spanish'' troops. Juan Esteban Aristizábal Vásquez (born 9 August 1972), known professionally as Juanes, is a Colombian musician who was a member of the rock band Ekhymosis and is now a solo artist. Since releasing his solo debut album ''Fíjate Bien'' in 2000, Juanes has won 26 Latin Grammy Awards and sold more than 15 million records worldwide, making him one of the best-selling Latin music artists of all time. Born and raised in Colombia, Juanes began playing piano at age two. When Juanes was 17, he started his first band, Ekhymosis, in 1988, which went on to release eight albums, achieving recognition in his native Colombia.
