Chunwei Song
Chunwei Song is a Chinese mathematician who specializes in combinatorics, graph theory, and intellectual history. He is a professor of mathematics at Peking University. Education and career Song received his Ph.D. in 2004 from the University of Pennsylvania, with the dissertation ''Combinatorial Theory of q,t-Schröder Polynomials, Parking Functions and Trees'' under the supervision of Professor James Haglund. Prior to joining Peking University, Song held visiting faculty positions at Boston College in Massachusetts and Tokyo Institute of Technology in Japan. From 2005 to 2006, he served as a visiting associate professor in thDepartment of Mathematical and Computing Scienceat the Tokyo Institute of Technology (now Science Tokyo). In 2010, he was a visiting associate professor at the University of Delaware. Combinatorics is an area of mathematics primarily concerned with counting, both as a means and as an end to obtaining results, and certain properties of finite structures. It is closely related to many other areas of mathematics and has many applications ranging from logic to statistical physics and from evolutionary biology to computer science. History The Chinese Mathematical Society (CMS) was founded in July 1935 in Shanghai. The International Commission on Mathematical Instruction (ICMI) is a commission of the International Mathematical Union and is an internationally acting organization focusing on mathematics education.
