Chumburu
The Chumburu are part of the Guang people, Guan ethnic group in Ghana. In Northern Region (Ghana), Northern Ghana, they are located in the Kpandai District; in the Oti Region, they are dominant in the Krachi East District, Krachi East, Krachi West District, Krachi West and Krachi-Chumburung Districts; and in Brong-Ahafo, they are dominant in the Yeji District, Yeji, Pru District, Pru and Atebubu District, Atebobu Districts. Both traditional areas of Chumburung in Brong-Ahafo and Volta regions are on the shores of Lake Volta. The Chumburu speak the Chumburung language, Chumburung and French language, French languages. Chumburung Language
Chumburung (Kyongborong, Nchimburu, Nchummuru) is a Guang language, Guang or Guan language spoken by 69,000 persons, mostly Chumburu by tribe and living in the Kingdom of Chumburung at both sides of the southwestern leg of Lake Volta in Ghana. 3,000 of these speak the Yeji (Yedji) dialect, which is quite divergent: no closer to Chumburung proper than Kplang language, Kplang or Krache language, Krache are. Guang People
The Guan or Guang people are an ethnic group found almost in all parts of Ghana, including the Akyode people who speak Gikyode, Anii, Krachi people Nkonya tribe, the Gonja, Anum, Larteh, Akposo, Etsii in the Central Region, Nawuri, Nyagbo and Ntsumburu. The Guan are believed to have been the first settlers in modern day southern Ghana, migrating from the Mossi-Dagbon region of modern Ghana and Burkina around 1000 A.D. The Gonja of the Guan are however late settlers in northern Ghana, invading eastern Dagbon in the 1600s, capturing Daboya and many towns. They primarily speak the Guan languages of the Niger-Congo language family. They make up 3.7% of the population of Ghana. Northern Region (Ghana)
The Northern Region is one of the sixteen regions of Ghana. It is situated in the northern part of the country and ranks as the second largest of the sixteen regions. Before its division, it covered an area of 25,000 square kilometres, representing 10 percent of Ghana's area. Oti Region
The Oti Region is one of the six newly created regions of Ghana in December 2018. The region was carved out of the Volta Region and will be in fulfillment of a campaign promise made by New Patriotic Party. Prior to the 2016 Ghanaian general election, the then candidate Nana Akufo-Addo declared that when elected, he would explore the possibility of creating new regions out of some of the existing regions in Ghana in order to bring government closer to citizens. The region was inaugurated on May 14, 2019. It has Dambai as its regional capital. Krachi East District
Krachi East Municipal District is one of the nine districts in Oti Region, Ghana. Originally it was formerly part of the then-larger Krachi District on 1988, until the eastern part of the district was split off to create Krachi East District on 19 August 2004, which was established by Legislative Instrument (L.I.) 1755; thus the remaining part has been renamed to become Krachi West District. However, on 14 November 2017 (effectively 15 March 2018), it was later elevated to municipal district assembly status to become Krachi East Municipal District; which was established by Legislative Instrument (L.I.) 2281. Krachi West Municipal District is one of the nine districts in Oti Region, Ghana. Brong-Ahafo
The Brong-Ahafo region was a region in central Ghana. Brong-Ahafo was bordered to the north by the Black Volta river and to the east by the Lake Volta, and to the south by the Ashanti, Eastern and Western regions. The capital of Brong-Ahafo is Sunyani. Brong-Ahafo was created on 14 April 1959 from the then Western Ashanti and named after the main ethnic groups, the Brong and Ahafo. Lake Volta
Lake Volta (), the largest artificial reservoir in the world based on surface area, is contained behind the Akosombo Dam which generates a substantial amount of Ghana's electricity. It is completely within the country of Ghana and has a surface area of . It extends from Akosombo in the south to the northern part of the country.
