Chukavin Sniper Rifle
The SVCh (СВЧ; Russian: Снайперская Винтовка Чукавина, romanized: ''Snayperskaya Vintovka Chukavina'', lit. 'Chukavin Sniper Rifle') is a semi-automatic designated marksman rifle/sniper rifle chambered for fully powered cartridges developed by the Kalashnikov Concern. It is designed to replace the SVD in the Army of the Russian Federation. History The SVCh rifle was designed on the basis of the SVK-2016 rifle. It was first presented in 2017 at the military-technical forum “Army-2017”. Russian tests of the Chukavin rifle have been completed in the fall 2021 and the rifle was recommended for adoption. The first deliveries were in September 2022. Long-term contracts have been signed. In November 2022, a decision was made to begin purchasing rifles for the needs of the Russian army. Kalashnikov Concern AMB-17
The Kalashnikov Concern AMB-17 (, awaiting GRAU designation), is an integrally suppressed compact assault rifle, chambered in subsonic 9×39mm SP5 cartridge and armour-piercing SP6 cartridge. It was developed and manufactured alongside the Kalashnikov Concern AM-17, which was based on the Yevgeny Dragunov MA compact assault rifle. The Kalashnikov Concern AM-17 (, GRAU index 6P74) is a compact assault rifle that is chambered in 5.45×39mm intermediate cartridge. History The AM-17 was first unveiled in the Russian Army Expo 2017 alongside the integrally suppressed AMB-17, it was developed and manufactured by Kalashnikov Concern. Yevgeny Dragunov
Yevgeny Fyodorovich Dragunov (; February 20, 1920August 4, 1991) was a Soviet weapons designer, best known for his role in helping invent the semi-automatic rifle bearing his name, the Dragunov sniper rifle. Early life and education Coming from a family of gunsmiths, Dragunov worked as a factory machinist before beginning military service in 1939. Career After 1941, Dragunov was a senior armorer working for the Soviet Union and also captured enemy weapons during wartime. After 1945, he returned to Izhevsk and joined the Arms Design Bureau, working as a project engineer on sporting and civilian target rifles through the 1950s. One of these, the Biathlon target rifle, went on to the Olympic Gold. In 1959, Dragunov submitted his design for a military sniper rifle, the SVD, which was accepted into Soviet military service in 1963 and later became known as the Dragunov rifle.
