Chuck Bennett (singer)
Disques Vogue was a jazz record company founded in France by Léon Cabat and Charles Delaunay in 1947, the year after the Vogue Records, American Vogue label ceased. They originally specialized in jazz, featuring American performers such as Sidney Bechet, Dizzy Gillespie, and Gigi Gryce (sessions reissued on CD under Clifford Brown's name), in addition to local musicians Django Reinhardt and Martial Solal. In the late 1950s Vogue expanded into pop music, recording artists such as Petula Clark. In the 1960s and early 1970s the label added Jacques Dutronc and Françoise Hardy. They licensed recordings by ABBA for release in Belgium and France and European distribution of Recordings of Monsieur Tranquille. Vogue Records, a British offshoot, was founded in 1951 and absorbed by Decca Records, English Decca (then separate from the American company) around 1956, but the rights to the name reverted to the French parent in 1962, whereupon Decca renamed its Vogue label Vocalion. Monsieur Tranquille
''Monsieur Tranquille'' is a character in the Canadian children's television series ''Patof voyage''. He is well known for the 1977 disco hit ''Ma'm Thibault''. He was portrayed by actor-comedian Roger Giguère. Children's TV shows Mr. Tranquille is first mentioned in the television series ''Patof raconte'' (CFTM-TV, 1975). Played by the soundman Roger Giguère, he is an invisible character who interacts with the clown Patof through sound and music effects. It is only in the series ''Patof voyage'' (CFTM-TV, 1976) that Roger Giguère embodies him as a puppet. Lesley Tranquille (a play on words meaning "leave him alone") quickly captures the hearts of children. In January 1977, a single titled ''Madame Thibault'' becomes a number one hit in Quebec. A disco version of the song, mostly instrumental except for the phrase "Ma'm Thibault," is created and becomes a club hit. The Foundations
The Foundations were a British soul band who were primarily active between 1967 and 1970. The group's background was West Indian, White British and Sri Lankan. Their 1967 debut single " Baby Now That I've Found You" reached number one in the UK and Canada, and number eleven in the US. Their 1968 single " Build Me Up Buttercup" reached number two in the UK and number three on the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100. The group was the first multi-racial group to have a number one hit in the UK in the 1960s. The Foundations were one of the few British acts to imitate successfully what became known as the Motown Sound. Eric Allandale (born Eric Allandale Dubuisson 4 March 1936 – 23 August 2001) was a trombonist, songwriter, and bandleader. During the 1960s, he was in number of bands in various genres which included jazz pop and soul. Background Early life A native of Dominica, West Indies, he moved to the U.K. in 1954 to complete his education. He joined the Hammersmith Borough Brass Band as a trumpeter while working as its council surveyor. He later switched to trombone and formed an amateur band playing jazz. Musical and other Beginning 1958 he performed at the Cellar Club in Soho, then joined bands led by Teddy Layton and Sonny Morris. During the 1960s, he was a member of the Terry Lightfoot and Alex Welsh bands and played with Edmundo Ros. He played trombone and sang in the blues band Dillingers with saxophonist Don Mackrill and bassist Ronnie Shapiro, the brother of Helen Shapiro. "Sufferin' in the Land" was a 1970 single for Jimmy Cliff. It made the charts in the Netherlands that year. It was also covered by several artists shortly after its release. Background "Sufferin' in the Land" backed with "Come into My Life" was released in the Netherlands by Island Records in 1970. It was produced by Leslie Kong and appears on the ''Jimmy Cliff'' album and later version of the album, ''Wonderful World, Beautiful People''. Charts It made its debut in the Dutch charts on May 30, 1970. It reached its peak position at no. 26 that week, spending a total of two weeks on the chart. Daffi Cramer is a German recording artist who became popular in the 1970s. She recorded the German national hit, " Charly, laß dir einen Bart steh'n". Background Daffi Cramer (real name Angelika Ramme) started her musical career in 1972. Her first record was her version of Little Eva's hit, "The Loco-Motion". Gitta Walther was a German singer and author. She released many recordings under the pseudonyms Simone, Jackie Robinson and also Gitta McKay after her marriage to Scottish musician Don McKay. Background and life Gitta Walter was born as the daughter of a baker during World War II and grew up in East Germany after the war. There, she first appeared on stage as a singer at the age of 14. At the age of 16, she emigrated to West Germany. Once in Munich, West Germany, she was discovered by Werner Müller who accepted her into his orchestra. She went on to also sing in the orchestra of Ambros Seelos and Arno Flor. Since the mid-1960s, she was an active guest, studio and background singer for numerous bands and acts.
