Christy Moorehouse
Christy Moorehouse (born 1988) is an Irish hurler. At club level he plays with Bray Emmets and is a former member of the Wicklow senior hurling team. Career Moorehouse first played hurling at juvenile and underage levels with the Bray Emmets club. He progressed to the club's senior team and has since won seven Wicklow SHC titles. Moorehouse was also captain of the team that won the Leinster ICHC title in 2022. Moorehouse made his first appearance for the Wicklow senior hurling team in 2007. He was a regular member of the team for much of the following 15 seasons, during which time he won a National League Division 2B title in 2014. Bray, County Wicklow
Bray ( ) is a coastal town in north County Wicklow, Ireland. It is situated about south of Dublin city centre on the east coast. It has a population of 32,600 making it the ninth largest urban area within Ireland (at the 2016 census). Bray is home to Ardmore Studios, and some light industry is located in the town, with some business and retail parks on its southern periphery. Commuter links between Bray and Dublin are provided by rail, Dublin Bus and the M11 and M50 motorways. Small parts of the town's northern outskirts are in County Dublin. Originally developed as a planned resort town in the 19th century, Bray's popularity as a seaside resort was serviced by the Dublin and Kingstown Railway, which was extended to Bray in 1854. Bray Emmets Gaelic Athletic Association is a hurling, camogie, Gaelic football and ladies' Gaelic football club in Bray, County Wicklow, Ireland. History The first club AGM took place on 11 December 1886. The first recorded Bray Emmets team played Dalkey in a field at the Vevay in 1885. Wicklow GAA
The Wicklow County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) ( ga, Cumann Lúthchleas Gael, Coiste Chontae Cill Mhantáin) or Wicklow GAA is one of the 32 county boards of the GAA in Ireland, and is responsible for Gaelic games in County Wicklow. The county board is also responsible for the Wicklow county teams. The county football team plays in the Leinster Senior Football Championship. Wicklow has had very little success at senior level, being the only football team in the province and one of two in Ireland to have never won a senior title in either code, the other being Fermanagh. The county hurling team competes in the Christy Ring Cup, the third tier of the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship. Hurling ( ga, iománaíocht, ') is an outdoor team game of ancient Gaelic Irish origin, played by men. One of Ireland's native Gaelic games, it shares a number of features with Gaelic football, such as the field and goals, the number of players and much terminology. The same game played by women is called camogie ('), which shares a common Gaelic root. The objective of the game is for players to use an ash wood stick called a hurley (in Irish a ', pronounced or ) to hit a small ball called a ' between the opponent's goalposts either over the crossbar for one point or under the crossbar into a net guarded by a goalkeeper for three points. Wicklow Senior Hurling Team
The Wicklow county hurling team represents Wicklow in hurling and is governed by Wicklow GAA, the county board of the Gaelic Athletic Association. The team competes in the Christy Ring Cup and the National Hurling League. Wicklow's home ground is Pearse Park, Arklow. The team's manager is Éamonn Scallan. Wicklow Senior Hurling Championship
The Wicklow Senior Hurling Championship is an annual Gaelic Athletic Association competition organised since 1903 by Wicklow GAA among the top hurling clubs in County Wicklow, Ireland. The winner qualifies to represent the county in the Leinster Intermediate Club Hurling Championship, the winner of which progresses to the All-Ireland Intermediate Club Hurling Championship. The first senior championship was won by Barndarrig in 1923. There was no Wicklow championship in 1938. National Hurling League
The National Hurling League is an annual inter-county hurling competition featuring teams from Ireland and England. Founded in 1925 by the Gaelic Athletic Association, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation within the league system. The league has 35 teams divided into six divisions, with either five or six teams in each division. Promotion and relegation between these divisions is a central feature of the league. Although primarily a competition for Irish teams, teams from England – currently Lancashire, London and Warwickshire – also take part, while in the past New York also fielded a team for the latter stages of the league.
