Christopher Williams (American Artist)
Christopher Williams (born 1956 in Los Angeles) is an American conceptual artist and fine-art photographer who lives in Cologne and works in Düsseldorf. Early life and education Williams was born in 1956 in Los Angeles, California. His father worked in Hollywood as a special effects artist. In the 1970s and early 1980s, he studied at the California Institute of the Arts where he received his B.F.A. and M.F.A. under the first generation of West Coast conceptual artists including John Baldessari, Michael Asher, and Douglas Huebler. Work Writing in ''Artforum'' in 2007, art critic Tim Griffin described Williams's approach as sociophotographic but more generally can be described as a political and historical practice. Christopher Williams (born in London) is an English academic. He held posts at the universities of University of Bristol, Bristol, University of Birmingham, Birmingham, University of Cairo, Cairo, University of Cambridge, Cambridge, University of London, London and the United Nations University, United Nations. He is an invited Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (RSA), and magistrate. At school he taught himself to play the trumpet and gained a place at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London, aged 16, studying with Bernard Brown. He then became Head of Brass teaching at Wells Cathedral School and a tutor at Dartington College of Arts. John Christopher Glazebrook Hodder-Williams (25 August 1926 – 15 May 1995) was an English musician, songwriter and author, primarily of science fiction. He also wrote novels about aviation and espionage. He was the son of Ralph Hodder-Williams, who was one of the owners of the British publishing firm Hodder and Stoughton. Many of his books are early examples of what would later be called techno-thrillers. He also wrote teleplays, and worked as a composer and lyricist. Christopher Leigh Williams is an American medical physicist and NASA astronaut. Selected in 2021 as part of NASA Astronaut Group 23, he is slated to launch to the International Space Station in 2025 as a flight engineer on Expedition 74. Before joining NASA, Williams worked at Harvard Medical School, Brigham and Women's Hospital, and the Dana–Farber Cancer Institute, where he led efforts in MRI-guided radiation therapy for cancer treatment. He holds a Ph.D. in physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and is board-certified in medical physics. Chieftain, Chief Christopher Alexander Sapara Williams (14 July 1855 – 15 March 1915) was the first indigenous Nigerian people, Nigerian lawyer, called to the English bar on 17 November 1879. Christopher Harris "Kit" Williams (December 18, 1798 – November 27, 1857) was an American politician who represented Tennessee's United States House of Representatives, thirteenth and United States House of Representatives, eleventh districts in the United States House of Representatives. Christopher David Williams (7 January 1873 – 1934) was a Welsh people, Welsh artist. Biography Williams was born in Maesteg, Wales. His father Evan Williams wished for him to be a doctor, but he disliked the idea. A visit to the Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool, in 1892, where he spent some hours in front of Frederick Leighton's ''Perseus and Andromeda'', revealed a new world to him. He left the Gallery with a firm decision that he would be an artist. He studied first in Neath at the town's Technical Institute in 1892 and 1893 under Mr. Kerr.
