Christopher Thompson (actor)
Christopher Thompson (born 1966) is a French actor, screenwriter, and film director. Early life Thompson comes from a family deeply associated with theatrical arts. He is the son of film director and screenwriter Danièle Thompson, and his maternal grandfather is director Gérard Oury (1919–2006); his sister is the actress Caroline Thompson. He is married to actress Géraldine Pailhas. They have two children. Born in New York City in 1966, Thompson was raised in his parents' home country, France. Later he returned to the United States to attend Brown University. Career Actor As an actor, Thompson's first major screen role was his portrayal of the revolutionary leader Saint-Just in ''La Révolution française'' (1989), a French television epic produced for the bicentennial of the French Revolution. Christopher Thompson (runner)
Christopher Thompson (born 17 April 1981) is a British long-distance runner, who won the silver medal in the 10,000 metres at the 2010 European Athletics Championships in Barcelona, on 27 July 2010 behind his compatriot Mo Farah. Prior to his 2010 medal win he had won the European U23 5000 m Championship in 2003. However he was initially unable to build on this victory, as he had substantial injury problems for a number of years. He is currently coached by Alan Storey. Thompson ran at the 2010 Great Yorkshire Run in September and came close to victory, but was edged out by a second by Australian Craig Mottram. He took on top African runners at the 2010 Commonwealth Games, but he could not repeat his podium performance of Barcelona; he finished in fifth place behind Ugandan winner Moses Kipsiro and the Kenyan team, making him the top non-African performer in the event. Christopher Thompson (astronomer)
Christopher Thompson (born 1961) is a Canadian astronomer and astrophysicist. He is a professor of astronomy at the University of Toronto Canadian Institute for Theoretical Astrophysics (CITA). Thompson received his Ph.D. from Princeton University in 1988. His thesis discussed the cosmological effects of superconducting strings. His advisor was Jeremiah P. Ostriker. He is a former faculty member of University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In 1992, Thompson first proposed the existence of magnetars with Robert Duncan. They were awarded the Bruno Rossi Prize for their work in 2003.
