Christopher Rants
Christopher C. Rants (born September 16, 1967) is a former Iowa State Representative. He served in the Iowa House of Representatives from 1992 to 2010. He received his BA from Morningside College. His work experience includes managing environmental compliance projects for Metz Baking Company, and Pierce & Associates, a Sioux City consulting firm. After leaving the legislature, Rants started inSight Communication as government affairs and public relations firm. In 2015 Rants partnered his firm with PolicyWorks LLC, another Iowa government affairs firm. Rants served on several committees in the Iowa House - Commerce, Education, Ways & Means, Labor, and Rules committees. His political experience includes serving as Assistant Majority Leader beginning in 1994, serving as the Speaker Pro Tempore, serving as House Majority Leader beginning in 1999, and serving as Speaker of the Iowa House from 2003 through 2006. Don Shoning
Donald W. Shoning (8 July 1915 – 11 February 1999) was an American politician. Shoning was born in Battle Creek, Iowa, on 8 July 1915, to parents Harvey and Marie Shoning. He attended Danbury High School in Danbury, Iowa. Shoning met and married Danbury native Grace Richards, with whom he had two daughters. Shoning later attended business schools in Scranton, Pennsylvania and Oak Park, Illinois, and also served in the United States Army during World War II. After the war, Shoning was employed by the Westinghouse Electric Corporation. Shoning was a member of the Republican Party who served on the Sioux City Council from 1966 to 1969. During his tenure as a city councilor, he was endorsed by the Woodbury County Labor Council. Shoning was active in discussions on municipal construction projects. The Republican State Leadership Committee (RSLC) is a political organization designed to assist Republicans in capturing and holding control of state legislatures across the United States. The organization notably raised over $140 million from 2004 to 2014, working across the country. The RSLC's Democratic Party counterpart is the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee (DLCC). The organization has stated that it "is the largest caucus of Republican state leaders in the country and the only national organization whose mission is to elect down-ballot, state-level Republican officeholders" with efforts focused on "the offices of lieutenant governor, attorney general, secretary of state, state legislator, the judiciary and other down-ticket races." Todd Taylor
Todd Taylor (born May 21, 1966) is the Iowa State Senator from the 40th District. A Democrat, he has served in the Iowa Senate since 2019. Previously between 1995 and 2019 he had served in the Iowa House of Representatives from the 70th District. He received his BA from Graceland College and his BS from the University of Northern Iowa. , Taylor serves on several committees in the Iowa House - the Appropriations, Labor, and State Government committees.
