Christopher De Paus
Count Christopher de Paus (10 September 1862 – 10 September 1943) was a Norway, Norwegian-born aristocrat, papal courtier and philanthropist. A member of the Paus family—the name means pope—he was heir to the Norwegian timber firm Tostrup & Mathiesen and inherited a fortune from his grandfather, timber magnate Christopher Henrik Holfeldt Tostrup, Christopher Tostrup. From the 1870s, he spent much of his life in Rome, where he converted to Catholicism. He was appointed as a papal chamberlain by Pope Benedict XV in 1921 and conferred the title of count by Pope Pius XI in 1923. He was a prominent benefactor of museums and the Catholic Church. He donated the Paus collection of classical sculpture that now forms part of the National Museum of Norway. Paus was considered "the founder of the National Gallery's antiquities collection" by Harry Fett. Christopher Paus (businessman)
Per Christian Cornelius Paus (born 28 April 1910 in Oslo, died 15 December 1986) was a Norwegian steel industrialist and lawyer. Background He was a member of the patrician Paus family and was a son of the steel industrialist Christopher Blom Paus and a grandson of the steel industrialist Ole Paus, who founded the Ole Paus steel company in 1872. In 1937 Per Paus married Countess Hedevig Wedel-Jarlsberg, a daughter of Lord Chamberlain Peder Anker Wedel-Jarlsberg. They acquired the estate Esviken from her parents in 1948; Esviken had been the summer residence of the Wedel-Jarlsberg family and King Haakon VII often visited there in his father-in-law's lifetime. Per and Hedevig Paus were the parents of Cornelia Paus, ship-owner and investor Christopher Paus, and oil and gas investor Peder Paus. Cecilie Paus, one of the main owners of Wilh. Christopher Blom Paus
Christopher Blom Paus (8 October 1810 – 28 October 1898) was a Norwegian shipowner, merchant and banker. Biography Paus was born at the estate Rising Nordre in Gjerpen, Norway. Born into the patriciate of the port town of Skien, he was the son of shipowner Ole Paus and Johanne Plesner (formerly married Ibsen). He was the uncle of playwright Henrik Ibsen, as he was both the half brother of Ibsen's father Knud Ibsen and the first cousin of Ibsen's mother Marichen Altenburg. He was the brother of judge, Bratsberg governor and Member of Parliament Christian Cornelius Paus and lawyer Henrik Johan Paus. Christopher Blom Paus owned the house at Snipetorp where the Ibsen family lived from the time of Henrik Ibsen's confirmation in 1843 to 1865.
