White Scar Caves
White Scar Caves is a show cave in the civil parish of Ingleton, North Yorkshire, England, under Ingleborough in the Chapel-le-Dale valley of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. It is a solutional resurgence cave formed in Carboniferous limestone, some long. It was first explored in August 1923 by two amateur geologists, Christopher Long and J.H. Churchill, but further discoveries have been made since then including ''The Battlefield'', at long it is one of the largest known cave chambers in Great Britain. Originally accessed through a vertical boulder choke, an access tunnel has been cut to include it on the visitor trail. Christopher William Long
Christopher William Long (born 9 April 1938) is a former British diplomat. Following his retirement in 1998, Long served as director of the Oxford University Foreign Service Programme from 1999 to 2003. Diplomatic career Christopher Long joined HM Diplomatic Service as Third Secretary in 1963, and went to study Arabic at MECAS in the Lebanon in 1964. He was posted as Third Secretary later Second Secretary to Jedda in 1965, and two years later was posted as First Secretary to Caracas. He returned to the FCO in London in 1969. He became Head of Chancery in Budapest in 1974 and attended the Belgrade CSCE Meeting in 1977. Long was posted as Counsellor to Damascus in 1978, and to UKMIS Geneva in 1980. He was appointed Head of the FCO's Near East and North Africa Department in 1983. Cristopher William Long (born 1947) is an Anglican priest. Long was educated at the University of Nottingham and Lincoln Theological College and ordained in 1978. Christopher Michael Long (born 25 February 1995) is an English professional footballer who plays as a forward for League Two club Crewe Alexandra. He is a product of the Everton Academy. Long has represented England from U16 to U20 level. Club career Everton A forward, Long grew up in Huyton and represented the town at schoolboy level. Long joined the Everton academy as a five-year-old in 2000 and worked his way up through the youth ranks.
