Christopher Frederik Lowzow
Christopher Frederik Peter Theodor Lowzow (29 June 1752 – 30 March 1829) was a Danish-Norwegian army officer. Early years Christopher Lowzow was born on 29 June 1752 at Hvolgaard in Denmark as the son of Eiler Ditlev Lowzow (1711–1785) and Hedevig Ulrikke Pfuel (1715–1780). At the age if seven he became ensign in his father's regiment, and only to years later he was promoted to second lieutenant in the ''Falsterske Fodregiment''. As a 23-year-old he went to Norway as Captain of the '' 1st Oplandske National Regiment'', he would come to be associated with this regiment for 36 years, only interrupted between 1783 and 1785 when he was attached to the ''Life Guard Regiment Foot'' and '' Prince Frederik's Regiment''. Prinsens Livregiment
The Prince's Life Regiment ( da, Prinsens Livregiment) was a Royal Danish Army infantry regiment. The motto of the regiment was "Gloria Finis" (Honor above all). History Because one of the regiment's antecedents was the life regiment of Queen Ingrid, the Queen Mother, the regiment had both Prince Henrik's and the late Queen Mother's cyphers on its Regimental Colour. The regiment was raised during the reign of King Frederik III in 1657 under the command of Ernst Albrecht von Eberstein. Over the years it underwent many changes of name, the last taking place in 1961. The Convention of Moss (''Mossekonvensjonen'') was a ceasefire agreement signed on 14 August 1814 between the King of Sweden and the Norwegian government. It followed the Swedish-Norwegian War due to Norway's claim to sovereignty. It also became the ''de facto'' peace agreement and formed the basis for the personal union between Sweden and Norway that was established when the Norwegian Storting (Parliament) elected Charles XIII of Sweden as king of Norway on 4 November 1814. Lieutenant general (Lt Gen, LTG and similar) is a three-star military rank (NATO code OF-8) used in many countries. The rank traces its origins to the Middle Ages, where the title of lieutenant general was held by the second-in-command on the battlefield, who was normally subordinate to a captain general. In modern armies, lieutenant general normally ranks immediately below general and above major general; it is equivalent to the navy rank of vice admiral, and in air forces with a separate rank structure, it is equivalent to air marshal. Bergenhus fortress ( no, Bergenhus festning) is a fortress located in Bergen, Norway. Located at the entrance of Bergen harbour, the castle is one of the oldest and best preserved stone fortifications in Norway. History The fortress contains buildings dating as far back as the 1240s, as well as later constructions built as recently as World War II. The extent of the enclosed area of today dates from the early 19th century. Bergenhus Regiment
The Bergenhus Regiment was a Norwegian Army infantry regiment located in the counties of Hordaland and Sogn og Fjordane. It was first formed in 1628 and finally disbanded in 2002. In 2006 it was decided that as the Norwegian Home Guard has taken over both the territorial responsibility and recruitment area of the old regiments they are recognised as their successors. Thus battle honours and history has been transferred to them and new banners based on the old regimental colours were created to reflect that. Charles August or Carl August (9 July 1768 – 28 May 1810) was a Danish prince. He is best known for serving as Crown Prince of Sweden briefly in 1810, adopted by Charles XIII, before his sudden death from a stroke.
