__NOTOC__ Restaurant ''Christophe'' is a defunct restaurant in Amsterdam, in the Netherlands. It was a Types of restaurant#Fine dining, fine dining restaurant that was awarded one Michelin star in 1989 and retained that rating until 2006. In 2013, Gault Millau awarded the restaurant 14 out of 20 points. The star was gained under the leadership of the Chef#Chef de cuisine, head chef Christophe Royer The last head chef is Jean-Joel Bonsens. Jean-Joel Bonsens and his business partner-sommelier Ellen Mansfield took over the restaurant in 2006. They closed down the restaurant in June 2014. The Leliegracht (; Lily Canal) is a canal in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, between Herengracht (no. 148 and 169) and Prinsengracht (no. 124 and 241). The canal lies within the western Grachtengordel (canal belt) in the Jordaan neighborhood of the Amsterdam-Centrum district. History The canal was dug after 1612 when the canal belt was created south of the Brouwersgracht. The remains of a lock can be recognized on the Prinsengracht side. That lock was necessary because the water of the Prinsengracht (along with the rest of the Jordaan Canals) remained at the polder level, while the water level in the Leliegracht, Keizersgracht and Herengracht was at the higher city level. Gault et Millau () is a French restaurant guide. It was founded by two restaurant critics, Henri Gault and Christian Millau in 1965. Points system Gault Millau rates restaurants on a scale of 1 to 20, with 20 being the highest. Restaurants given below 10 points are rarely listed. The points are awarded based on the quality of the food, with comments about service, price or the atmosphere of the restaurant given separately. The ''Michelin Guides'' have been published by the French tire company Michelin since 1900. They were designed as a guide to tell drivers about eateries they recommended to visit and to subtly sponsor their tires, by encouraging drivers to use their cars more and therefore need to replace the tires as they wore out.
