Christine Gwyther
Christine Margery Gwyther (born 1959) is a Welsh Labour politician, who served as Member of the Welsh Assembly for Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire from the Assembly's founding 1999 to 2007. She was also the first person to hold responsibility for Agriculture in the Welsh Government, serving as Secretary for Agriculture and Rural Development from May 1999 to July 2000. She lost her seat in the 2007 Welsh Assembly Elections, to Conservative candidate Angela Burns. Background Gwyther was born in Pembroke Dock. She attended University College Cardiff, before briefly moving to London for work. She then moved back to West Wales. Alun Michael
Alun Edward Michael (born 22 August 1943) is a Welsh Labour and Co-operative retired politician. He served as Secretary of State for Wales from 1998 to 1999 and then as the first First Secretary of Wales (later known as First Minister) and Leader of Welsh Labour from 1999 to 2000. He went on to serve as South Wales Police and Crime Commissioner from 2012 to 2024. Born on the island of Anglesey, Michael attended Colwyn Bay Grammar School and graduated from the University of Keele in 1966 with a degree in Philosophy and English. 1999 Welsh Assembly Election
The 1999 National Assembly for Wales election was held on Thursday 6 May 1999 to elect 60 members to the Senedd, at the time called the National Assembly for Wales (Welsh Parliament; ). Franz Fischler (born 23 September 1946) is an Austrian politician from the Austrian People's Party (ÖVP). James Ross Finnie (born 11 February 1947) is a Scottish Liberal Democrat politician and a former Member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP). Dafydd Elis Elis-Thomas, Baron Elis-Thomas, (; 18 October 1946 – 7 February 2025) was a Welsh politician who served as the leader of Plaid Cymru from 1984 to 1991 and represented the Dwyfor Meirionnydd constituency in the Senedd from 1999 to 2021. The National Farmers' Union (NFU) is an employer association representing farming and growing businesses within England and Wales.
