Christianshåb
Qasigiannguit (), also known as Christianshåb, is a town located in western Greenland on the southeastern shore of Disko Bay in the Qeqertalik municipality. With 1,081 inhabitants in 2020, it is the thirteenth-largest town in Greenland. The main industry is shrimp and halibut fishing. This is a list of cities and towns in Greenland . The term 'city' is used loosely for any populated area in Greenland, given that the most populated place is Nuuk, the capital, with 19,900 inhabitants, amounting to about 35% of the total population. In Greenland, two kinds of settled areas are distinguished: ''illoqarfik'' (Greenlandic for 'town'; ''by'' in Danish) and ''nunaqarfik'' (Greenlandic for 'settlement'; ''bygd'' in Danish). The difference between the two decreased since the new administrative units were introduced in 2009, with the influence of previous municipality centres decreasing. Traditionally, the seat of each municipality was considered a ''by'', whereas every other settlement in a municipality was a ''bygd''. Qeqertalik
Qeqertalik (, ) is a municipality of Greenland created in 2018 from four southern regions of the former Qaasuitsup Municipality. It is the least populated municipality at a population of 6,340, despite this it is the 2nd most densely populated municipality with 0.11 people per square kilometer. Geography Qeqertalik Municipality is flanked in the south by the Qeqqata municipality and in the northeast by Avannaata. Over the ice cap, it is bordered in the east by the Sermersooq municipality, however this border runs north–south ( 45° West meridian) through the center of the Greenland ice sheet (), and as such is free of traffic. Paul Egede
Paul or Poul Hansen Egede (9 September 1708 – 6 June 1789) was a Denmark–Norway, Dano-Norwegian theologian, missionary, and scholar who was principally concerned with the Church of Denmark, Lutheran mission among the Kalaallit people in Greenland that had been established by his father, Hans Egede, Hans, in 1721. Biography Egede was born in Kabelvåg, a village in the parish of Vågan Municipality, Vågan, Norway, on the southern shore of the island of Austvågøya. Aasiaat
Aasiaat (), also known as Egedesminde, is a town in the Qeqertalik municipality in western Greenland, located on its namesake island in the heart of Aasiaat Archipelago at the southern end of Disko Bay. With a population of 2,980 as of 2021, it is Greenland's fifth-largest town. Etymology In Greenlandic, Aasiaat means "Spiders" (). The exact explanation for this is yet to be determined because of the lack of historical facts of the origin of the name. The most common assumption is that when the town was founded as a settlement, spiders were abundant. Alternatively it might be a relic of Inuit mythology, wherein spiders bring good luck. Similar to the rest of Greenland, spiders are rarely seen in the town.
