Christianity is a minority in Hunan province of the People's Republic of China. The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Changsha, the Roman Catholic Diocese of Changde and the Roman Catholic Diocese of Hengzhou have their seat in the province. The province has persecution of Christians. Hunan has more than 1000 congregations. The Hunan Bible Institute was founded in 1909. Christians only form a small majority of the Hunanese Han. True Jesus Church and The Shouters are present in the province. The Shouters
The Shouters, or more properly the Shouters sect (呼喊派), is a label attached by the People's Republic of China (PRC) to an amorphous group within China that was targeted by the government first as counterrevolutionaries and subsequently as a criminal cult after incidents in Dongyang and Yiwu counties in Zhejiang province in February 1982. "The Shouters sect" became the object of waves of arrests in 1983 and again in 1995. Several 1983 publications with ties to the Three-Self Patriotic Movement (TSPM) accused the late expatriate Chinese Christian teacher Witness Lee (Li Changshou) of being the leader of "the Shouters sect" and of instigating the disorders. In practice, however, the appellation "the Shouters sect" has been applied far more broadly to many groups that pray openly and audibly and/or do not register or otherwise cooperate with the TSPM. Christianity In Guizhou
Christianity is a minority religion in the Chinese province of Guizhou. Gha-Mu and A-Hmao are ethnic groups with large share of Christians. The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Guiyang and the Roman Catholic Diocese of Nanlong have their seats in the province. Sam Pollard was a missionary of China Inland Mission, who was active among the A-Hmao. When the new government took power in 1949, Guizhou may have had about 40,000 Protestants. The current Protestant population is at about half a million. Christianity in Dafang and Christianity in Weining, which both mainly consist of Protestants, exceed 100,000. Beili Wang
The Anointed King / Beili Wang (被立王) (also known as ''The Established King'') is a new religious movement of Christian origin in the People's Republic of China, which possibly had more than 100,000 members at its peak. The group was founded in 1987 by Wu Yangming (吴扬明), formerly of The Shouters. Wu declared that he was Jesus Christ returned to Earth. He was executed on rape charges in 1995. Beili Wang has been banned in the People's Republic of China since 1995. The group emphasizes eschatology and is in favor of a Christian empire. Spirit Church
Spirit Church (灵灵教 Linglingjiao), also known as Efficacious Spirit Teachings, is a new religious movement from China. It was founded in the 1980s, in Hunan by Hua Xuehe (华雪和), a primary school teacher with high school education from Jiangsu. Hua was a member of the Chinese Communist Party who became a Protestant in 1978 and joined the True Jesus Church in 1979. In 1982, he left the True Jesus Church and established his own movement. Its areas of presence include Jiangsu, Jiangxi, Anhui, Hunan, Hubei, Henan and Shandong. It has Pentecostal features and may be regarded as a break-away group from the Chinese Pentecostal group, the True Jesus Church. The True Jesus Church (TJC) is a non-denominational Christian Church that originated in Beijing, China, during the Pentecostal movement in the early twentieth century. Hunan Bible Institute () was an important fundamentalist Bible school in early-20th century China. It was founded in 1916 and known as " Biola in China." History Frank A. Keller, a missionary with the China Inland Mission, began evangelistic work among the houseboats of Hunan in 1909.
