Christian Leye (born 6 April 1981) is a German politician (BSW, formely DIE LINKE). He is a Member of the German Bundestag for North Rhine-Westphalia. Career Born in Bochum, Leye has been the state chairman of DIE LINKE in North Rhine-Westphalia since 2016. He contested Duisburg II at the 2021 federal election. He won a seat on the party list. Leye founded the pre-association for the new party of Sahra Wagenknecht BSW. Sahra Wagenknecht
Sahra Wagenknecht (born Sarah Wagenknecht; ; 16 July 1969) is a German politician, economist, author and publicist. Since 2009, she has been a member of the Bundestag for The Left. From 2015 to 2019 she served as parliamentary co-chair of her party. Wagenknecht became a prominent member of the Party of Democratic Socialism (PDS) from the early 1990s. After the foundation of The Left, she became a leading member of the party's most radical wing as leader of the Communist Platform. 2021 German Federal Election
Federal elections were held in Germany on 26 September 2021 to elect the members of the 20th Bundestag. State elections in Berlin and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern were also held. Incumbent chancellor Angela Merkel, first elected in 2005, chose not to run again, marking the first time that an incumbent Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany has not sought re-election. With 25.7% of total votes, the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) recorded their best result since 2005, and emerged as the largest party for the first time since 2002.
