Christian Kloepfer
Christian Kloepfer (December 22, 1847 – February 9, 1913) was a wholesale merchant and political figure in Ontario, Canada. He represented Wellington South in the House of Commons of Canada from 1896 to 1900 as a Conservative. He was born in New Germany, Waterloo County, Canada West, the son of German immigrants. Kloepfer sold hardware for carriages. In 1880, he married Elizabeth Murray. Kloepfer ran unsuccessfully for reelection in 1900 and 1904. He served as a member of the municipal council for Guelph Guelph ( ; 2021 Canadian Census population 143,740) is a city in Southwestern Ontario, Canada. Wellington South (federal Electoral District)
Wellington South was a Canadian federal electoral district represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 1867 to 1968. It was located in the province of Ontario. It was created by the British North America Act 1867 as the "South Riding of the county of Wellington". The County of Wellington was divided into three ridings: the North, South and Centre Ridings". The South Riding initially consisted of the Town of Guelph, and the Townships of Guelph and Puslinch. In 1872, the Townships of Eramosa and Erin were added to the riding. In 1903, the county of Wellington was divided into two ridings, to be called the north and the south ridings of Wellington. Waterloo County, Ontario
Waterloo County was a county in Canada West in the United Province of Canada from 1853 until 1867, then in the Canadian province of Ontario from 1867 until 1973. It was the direct predecessor of the Regional Municipality of Waterloo. Situated on a subset of land within the Haldimand Tract, Waterloo County consisted of five townships: Woolwich, Wellesley, Wilmot, Waterloo, and North Dumfries. Carriage
A carriage is a two- or four-wheeled horse-drawn vehicle for passengers. In Europe they were a common mode of transport for the wealthy during the Roman Empire, and then again from around 1600 until they were replaced by the motor car around 1900. They were generally owned by the rich, but second-hand private carriages became common public transport, the equivalent of modern cars used as taxis.
