Christian Democracy Sicily ( it, Democrazia Cristiana Sicilia, DCS), also known as New Christian Democracy (''Nuova Democrazia Cristiana''), is a Christian-democratic political party based in Sicily, Italy. Its leader is Salvatore Cuffaro, a former President of Sicily. History In October 2020 Cuffaro launched the DCS, in connection with the Christian Democracy led by Renato Grassi and Renzo Gubert. The party ran for the first time with its own list in the municipal elections of 2021 in Sicily, obtaining good results and several seats (11.5% and three seats in Favara, 6.4% and one seat in Giarre, 6.7% and one seat in Caltagirone and 4.4% in San Cataldo). In March 2022 the party reached an agreement with Us of the Centre of Clemente Mastella looking forward the following elections. San Cataldo ( Sicilian: ''San Catallu'' or ''San Cataddu'') is a Sicilian town and ''comune'' in the province of Caltanissetta, in the southwestern part of the island of Sicily. Physical geography San Cataldo rises in an internal hilly area, located at 625 meters above sea level, which extends north of the town, between the municipalities of Serradifalco, Mussomeli, Caltanissetta, located within the Sicilian Solfifero plateau, an ancient area mining. It is 63 km from Agrigento, 9 km from Caltanissetta, 50 km from Enna, 150 km from Ragusa. Lega ( en, League), whose official name is Lega per Salvini Premier ( en, League for Salvini Premier; abbr. LSP or LpSP), is a right-wing populist political party in Italy, led by Matteo Salvini. The LSP is the informal successor of Lega Nord ( en, Northern League, LN) and, while sharing the latter's heartland in northern Italy, it is active all around the country. The LSP was founded in December 2017 as the sister party of the LN and as a replacement of Us with Salvini (NcS), the LN's previous affiliate in central and southern Italy. The centre-right coalition ( it, coalizione di centro-destra) is an alliance of political parties in Italy, active—under several forms and names—since 1994, when Silvio Berlusconi entered politics and formed his Forza Italia party.
