Baptism
Baptism (from grc-x-koine, βάπτισμα, váptisma) is a form of ritual purification—a characteristic of many religions throughout time and geography. In Christianity, it is a Christian sacrament of initiation and adoption, almost invariably with the use of water. It may be performed by sprinkling or pouring water on the head, or by immersing in water either partially or completely, traditionally three times, once for each person of the Trinity. The synoptic gospels recount that John the Baptist baptised Jesus. Baptism is considered a sacrament in most churches, and as an ordinance in others. Baptism according to the Trinitarian formula, which is done in most mainstream Christian denominations, is seen as being a basis for Christian ecumenism, the concept of unity amongst Christians. Christen Christensen (figure Skater)
Christen Christensen (17 September 1904 in Oslo – 2 June 1969 in Oslo) was a Norwegian pair skater. He represented Oslo Skøiteklub. His pairs partner was Randi Bakke. They are the 1933 World bronze medalists. They finished fifth at the 1923 World Figure Skating Championships and the 1934 World Figure Skating Championships. They represented Norway at the 1936 Winter Olympics Norway competed at the 1936 Winter Olympics in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany. Medalists Alpine skiing ;Men ;Women Cross-country skiing ;Men ;Men's 4 x 10 km relay Figure skating ;Women ;Pairs Nordic combined Events ..., where they placed 15th. Christen Mikkelsen Kold
Christen Mikkelsen Kold (sometimes spelled Kristen or Cristen; 29 March 1816 — 6 April 1870) was a Danish teacher, notable for creating the Danish Folk high school system, for non-degree education of adults. Kold was born in Thisted, Jutland Jutland ( da, Jylland ; german: Jütland ; ang, Ēota land ), known anciently as the Cimbric or Cimbrian Peninsula ( la, Cimbricus Chersonesus; da, den Kimbriske Halvø, links=no or ; german: Kimbrische Halbinsel, links=no), is a peninsula of .... Unsatisfied with the education system of Denmark at the time, he founded a school in Ryslinge in 1851, which later became a model for the folk high-school system. His work has to be seen in context with that of N. F. S. Grundtvig. He associated with Morten Eskesen. Kold died in Dalum, Funen.
