Christa Meves
Christa Meves (née Mittelstaedt; born 4 March 1925) is a German psychotherapist and writer. Early life and education Meves was born in 1925 in Neumünster. After studying geography and philosophy at the Universities of Breslau and Kiel, she passed her state examination in Hamburg, where she also studied psychology. In 1962 she completed her additional training as a child and adolescent psychotherapist at the Psychotherapeutic Institute in Göttingen. In 1992 she received state recognition. She is a member of the Lower Saxony Chamber of Psychotherapists. Career She works in Uelzen where she has authored more than 100 books, which have been translated into up 13 languages. From 1978 to 2006 she was co-editor of the weekly newspaper ''Rheinischer Merkur''. Meves is also the author of the right-wing Catholic paper '' Die Tagespost''. Neumünster
Neumünster () is a city in the middle of Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. With more than 79,000 registered inhabitants, it is the fourth-largest municipality in Schleswig-Holstein (behind Kiel, Lübeck and Flensburg). The ''Holstenhallen'' and the ''Stadthalle'' make the city an important trade fair location. History The city was first formally mentioned as ''Wippendorp im Gau Faldera'' in 1127. The 2014 European Parliament election in Germany was held on 25 May 2014. Under the Lisbon Treaty, Germany lost three seats and elected 96 members of the European Parliament, instead of the previous 99. Electoral threshold The previous electoral threshold of 5% was ruled unconstitutional in 2011, leading the major parties to implement a 3% threshold instead. However the Constitutional Court ruled on 26 February 2014 that this threshold was illegal as well. Under this circumstances a vote share of 0.6% proved sufficient to win an EP seat (result of Die PARTEI) and seven parties won single seats; the seats were allocated according to the Webster/Sainte-Laguë method.
