Chris Williams (South African Golfer)
Christopher Gary Williams (born 20 March 1959) is an English-born golfer who currently lives in South Africa. Williams has won seven times on the Sunshine Tour. Early life Williams was born in Liverpool, England. He moved to Johannesburg, South Africa in his late teens. Professional career In 1978, Williams turned professional, shortly after moving to South Africa. He joined the Southern Africa Tour in 1985, and won his first title, the Lexington PGA Championship, during his debut season. He has won six more events on the Sunshine Tour since then. Williams joined the European Senior Tour on turning 50, having secured conditional playing rights at the 2008 qualifying school. He won for the first time as a senior in March 2011 at the Aberdeen Brunei Senior Masters. Bebington () is a town and unparished area within the Metropolitan Borough of Wirral, in Merseyside, England. The 1994–95 Southern Africa Tour, titled as the 1994–95 FNB Tour for sponsorship reasons, was the 24th season of the Southern Africa Tour, the main professional golf tour in South Africa since it was formed in 1971. It was the third season of the tour under a title sponsorship agreement with First National Bank, that began in 1992. The 1988–89 Southern Africa Tour was the 18th season of the Southern Africa Tour, the main professional golf tour in South Africa since it was formed in 1971. Season outline With three wins and three runner-up finishes in the opening seven tournaments, the first half of the season belonged to Tony Johnstone. At the first event, the Minolta Copiers Match Play, he defeated Wayne Westner by two in the stroke play final. Johnstone also won the following week at the Bloemfontein Classic. He then finished runner-up at the next two events, the Safmarine South African Masters and the Goodyear Classic. The fifth event, the Dewar's White Label Trophy, developed into a "two-man battle" between Johnstone and Bland; a birdie at the 72nd hole secured a one stroke victory for Bland. Denis Watson
Denis Leslie Watson (born 18 October 1955) is a professional golfer from Zimbabwe. Early life and amateur career Born in Salisbury, Rhodesia (now Harare, Zimbabwe) Watson was educated at Oriel Boys High School, Chisipite. He represented Rhodesia at the 1974 Eisenhower Trophy in the Dominican Republic, in the same team as Mark McNulty, George Harvey and Teddy Webber. The team finished 14th and Watson best Rhodesian player. In August 1975, Watson, together with George Harvey, represented Rhodesia at El Rincon Golf Club in Bogotá, Colombia, among 18 two-man nation teams, competing for the Coupa El Rincon over 72 holes stroke-play. Jay Townsend (golfer)
Jay Townsend (born March 14, 1962) is an American professional golfer and broadcaster. Touring professional career Townsend was born in Michigan but grew up in Ohio. His father was a club professional. Townsend attended the University of Florida and was on the golf team. He was an All-American and graduated in 1984. He succeeded qualified for the European Tour in the fall of 1984 and joined the European Tour before the 1985 season. In his first season, Townsend played in 14 events and made the majority of cuts. However he did not record many high finishes while retaining his tour card. Townsend’s Career in Europe stretched form 1985 through 1998. He says he enjoyed the experience in Europe immensely. Mark McNulty
Mark William McNulty (born 24 March 1953) is a Zimbabwean-Irish professional golfer. He was one of the leading players on the European Tour from the mid-1980s to the mid-1990s, and featured in the top 10 of the Official World Golf Ranking for 83 weeks from 1987 to 1992. Early life McNulty was born in Bindura, Southern Rhodesia (now known as Zimbabwe). He was raised on a farm in the Centenary area of Zimbabwe. When McNulty was one year old, his natural father was killed in a shooting accident. His step-father was an amateur pilot who had an airstrip on the farm. Theodore Townsend Purdy (born August 15, 1973) is an American professional golfer. He has won one PGA Tour tournament, the 2005 EDS Byron Nelson Championship. He has also won on the Nationwide Tour and the Asian Tour. Early life Purdy was born in Phoenix, Arizona. He graduated from Brophy College Preparatory in 1992.
