Chris Ullo
J. Chris Ullo (March 16, 1928 – January 16, 2014) was an American politician. He served as a Democratic Party (United States), Democratic member of the Louisiana House of Representatives. Ullo also served as a member for the Louisiana's 8th State Senate district, 8th district of the Louisiana State Senate. Life and career Born in Marrero, Louisiana, Ullo attended Marrero High School. He then went on to Tulane University. In 1972, Ullo was elected to serve as a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives. He was succeeded by Steve Theriot. Ullo served from May 1972 to March 1988. After that, he was elected to represent 8th district of the Louisiana State Senate. Ullo succeeded Elwyn Nicholson and was later succeeded by John Alario in 2008. Ullo died in January 2014 at the East Jefferson General Hospital in Metairie, Louisiana, at the age of 85. Marrero is a census-designated place (CDP) in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, United States. Marrero is on the south side (referred to as the "West Bank") of the Mississippi River, within the New Orleans– Metairie– Kenner metropolitan statistical area. The population was 32,382 at the 2020 U.S. census. History Marrero was named in honor of the Louisiana politician and founder of Marrero Land Company, Louis H. Marrero. The area was originally referred to and shown on maps as "Amesville", after the Boston businessman Oakes Ames, who purchased much of the land following the Civil War. In February 1916, the U.S. Postmaster officially changed the name of the Post Office to "Marrero". Louis Herman Marrero was born in Adams County, Mississippi, on July 17, 1847. WDSU (channel 6) is a television station in New Orleans, Louisiana, United States, affiliated with NBC and owned by Hearst Television. The station's studios are located on Howard Avenue in the city's Central Business District, and its transmitter is located on East Josephine Street in Chalmette. East Jefferson General Hospital
East Jefferson General Hospital is a hospital in Metairie, Louisiana (U.S.). The hospital broke ground in 1965 and is still expanding. The facility serves the people of the East Bank of Jefferson Parish. History In 1965, the Jefferson Parish council passed an ordinance for the construction of a hospital service to be built on the East Bank of the Jefferson Parish. East Jefferson General Hospital inaugurated on February 14, 1971. It originally included 250 beds and 250 physicians. The hospital has since expanded adding medical office buildings, the Yenni Treatment Center for outpatient cancer treatment, and the Domino Pavilion (outpatient laboratory and outpatient radiology, as well as same-day treatments). The hospital's primary financial support comes through the EJGH Foundation. The hospital currently includes 420 beds and over 3000 employees (along with more than 650 physicians), making it one of the largest employers in the Parish region.
