Chris Temple
Chris Temple (born May 20, 1989) is an American documentary filmmaker. In 2012, he co-founded the non-profit production company Optimist with Zach Ingrasci. Career Temple's first documentary was ''Living on One Dollar'' in 2012. The film focuses on life in extreme poverty in the rural Guatemalan town of Pena Blanca. It was co-created with Zach Ingrasci, Sean Leonard, and Ryan Christoffersen. The film released on Netflix in 2015. In 2015, Temple co-directed his second documentary ''Salam Neighbor''. The film documents life inside of the Za'atari refugee camp and was a co-production with 1001 Media. The film premiered at AFI Docs film festival in 2015 and released on Netflix in 2016. The film was awarded the 2016 Muslim Public Affairs Council Annual Media Awards. Living On One Dollar
''Living on One Dollar'' is a documentary film directed, produced and edited by Chris Temple, Zach Ingrasci, Sean Leonard, and Ryan Christofferson. Premise The film follows the experience of four young friends as they live on less than $1 a day for two months in rural Guatemala. They battle hunger, parasites and the realization that there are no easy answers. Yet, the generosity and strength of Rosa, a 20-year-old woman with her husband Anthony, and Chino, a 12-year-old boy, gives them hope that there are effective ways to make a difference. Inception project: september 1st 2015 The project did not start out as a film, but rather short YouTube videos that went viral, amassing over 650,000 views on the site. Inspired by the response, the four college friends produced a 56-minute film from the experience. ''Salam Neighbor'' is a 2015 documentary film by the production companies Living on One Dollar and 1001 MEDIA. The title means "hello" neighbor. The title has a dual meaning as the Arabic word "salam" also means "peace." The film documents the experiences of American filmmakers Zach Ingrasci and Chris Temple when they lived among 85,000 Syrians in Jordan's Za'atari refugee camp, which lies seven miles from the Syrian border. The filmmakers, who were the first allowed by the UN to register and set-up a tent inside a refugee camp, spent a month in Za'atari to cover what the UN Refugee Agency calls the world's most pressing humanitarian crisis.
