Chris Stringer (footballer)
Christopher Stringer (born 2 June 1983) is an English former professional footballer who played for Sheffield Wednesday as a goalkeeper. He made his senior debut for the club at the age of seventeen in 2000 and made twelve appearances in all competitions before being forced to retire from football at the age of 20. Career Born in Grimsby, Stringer began his career in the youth system at Sheffield Wednesday after joining the club at the age of eleven. He made his senior debut against Wolverhampton Wanderers on 13 August 2000, the opening day of the 2000–01 season, as a substitute at the age of seventeen after starting goalkeeper Kevin Pressman was sent off after just 13 seconds. The sending off was the fastest red card in English football history, beating the previous record by six seconds. He conceded once during the remainder of the match as it ended in a 1–1 draw. Grimsby
Grimsby or Great Grimsby is a port town and the administrative centre of North East Lincolnshire, Lincolnshire, England. Grimsby adjoins the town of Cleethorpes directly to the south-east forming a conurbation. Grimsby is north-east of Lincoln, (via the Humber Bridge) south-south-east of Hull, south-east of Scunthorpe, east of Doncaster and south-east of Leeds. Football League First Division
The Football League First Division was a division of the Football League in England from 1888 until 2004. It was the top division in the English football league system from the season 1888–89 until 1991–92, a century in which the First Division's winning club became English men's football champions. The First Division contained between 12 and 24 clubs, playing each other home and away in a double round robin. The competition was based on two points for a win from 1888 until the increase to three points for a win in 1981. After the creation of the Premier League, the name First Division was given to the second-tier division (from 1992). The name ceased to exist after the 2003–04 First Division season. The 2003–04 season was the 124th season of association football in England. Overview Arsenal completed the season without losing a league match, becoming champions of the Premiership in the process. Leeds United avoided going into administration, but were unable to avoid relegation and lost their place in the Premiership - along with Leicester City and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
