Chris Steineger
Chris Steineger (born January 8, 1962) is an American politician from Kansas. He represented the 6th district of the Kansas Senate, based in Kansas City, from 1997 until 2013. He has worked for U.S. Representative Jim Slattery in Washington, D.C., been an assistant in the city administrator's office in Kansas City, and a tax auditor and collector with the Kansas Department of Revenue. Early life Steineger was born in Kansas City, Kansas, and grew up in Muncie, a township on the edge of the city limits. His father was former senator Jack Steineger, a veteran of the Kansas Legislature for 28 years. His mother Margaret served on various community boards. Steineger previously served as a board member for Kaw Valley Arts and Humanities Inc., the Mid-America Manufacturing Technology Center, the Kansas Technology Enterprise Corporation and the International Relations Council of Kansas City. Kansas's 6th Senate district is one of 40 districts in the Kansas Senate. It has been represented by Democratic Party (United States), Democrat Pat Pettey since 2013, following her defeat of Democrat-turned-Republican Chris Steineger. Geography District 6 is based in southern Kansas City, Kansas, Kansas City in Wyandotte County, Kansas, Wyandotte County and Johnson County, Kansas, Johnson County, also covering parts of Edwardsville, Kansas, Edwardsville, Merriam, Kansas, Merriam, and Overland Park, Kansas, Overland Park. Hollywood Casino At Kansas Speedway
Kansas Speedway is a tri-oval race track in the Village West area near Kansas City, Kansas, United States. It was built in 2001 and it currently hosts two annual NASCAR race weekends. The IndyCar Series also held races at the venue until 2011. The speedway is owned and operated by NASCAR. History International Speedway Corporation began exploring the idea of building a racing facility in the midwest in 1996. Attention was turned towards the Kansas City area in 1997. Officials considered both the Missouri and Kansas side of the city but eventually settled with the Kansas side because of better funding. Architecture firm HNTB, which also designed Chicagoland Speedway, provided civil engineering and site development, landscape design, and race track design. ''The Pitch'' is a free alternative newspaper distributed in the Kansas City Metropolitan Area, including Lawrence and Topeka, Kansas. While known for its investigative stories of the local government, it also covers local sports stories, restaurants, events, visual art, and concerts. It was started in July 1980 as the ''Penny Pitch'', which was a monthly handout at Penny Lane Record Shop in the Westport area of Kansas City. The original editors were Dwight Frizzell and Jay Mandeville. Village Voice Media bought ''The Pitch'' in 1999, and sold the paper in 2011 to SouthComm Communications.
