Chris Staples (basketball)
Chris Staples is an American indie rock musician originally from Pensacola, Florida, long based in Seattle, Washington. He released ''Panama, Burned and Blistered'', '' Blackest Hair, Bluest Eyes'', ''Badlands'', and ''American Soft'' independently, before catching the attention of Seattle-based Barsuk Records, who re-released ''American Soft'' in 2014. Staples' second album on Barsuk, ''Golden Age'', was released in 2016. His next album, ''Holy Moly'', was released by Barsuk on 28 June 2019. In addition to his solo career, Staples has performed with Telekinesis, Josh Tillman, Rocky Votolato, Jeremy Enigk, and David Bazan. Previously, Staples wrote and released music as "Discover America". Early in his career, he was the vocalist and guitarist of the indie rock band Twothirtyeight. Alternative Rock
Alternative rock (also known as alternative music, alt-rock or simply alternative) is a category of rock music that evolved from the independent music underground of the 1970s. Alternative rock acts achieved mainstream success in the 1990s with the likes of the grunge subgenre in the United States, and the Britpop and shoegaze subgenres in the United Kingdom and Ireland. During this period, many record labels were looking for "alternatives", as many Arena rock, corporate rock, hard rock, and glam metal acts from the 1980s were beginning to grow stale throughout the music industry. Twothirtyeight
Twothirtyeight was an American indie rock band from Pensacola, Florida, Pensacola, Florida. They were active from 1995 to 2003, though they have reunited for performances in the years since their disbandment. Formed in 1995, Twothirtyeight released three independently produced EP albums before signing with the now-defunct Takehold Records. In 1999, Twothirtyeight released their first full-length album ''Missing You Dearly'' on Takehold Records. The band line-up featured Chris Staples, Kevin Woerner, Owen Grabo, and DJ Stone. The album was dedicated to Kevin Glass, the band's former bass guitarist, who died in a tragic car accident in 1997. Weeks before Glass was killed, he taught Owen Grabo the bass parts for most of the songs in the band's catalogue. David Bazan
David Shannon Bazan (; born January 22, 1976) is an American indie rock singer-songwriter from Phoenix, Arizona who now resides in Edmonds, Washington. Bazan is the lead singer and creative force behind the band Pedro the Lion and was the lead singer of Headphones. In early 2006, he began performing and recording under his own name. In late 2017 he returned to playing under the Pedro the Lion name. Career In the early 90s he played drums in the band The Guilty (later named Coolidge) with fellow songwriter Damien Jurado. Although the term was originally used to describe rock music released through independent record labels, by the 1990s it became more widely associated with the music such bands produced. Jeremy Enigk (; born July 16, 1974) is an American singer-songwriter, vocalist and guitarist/multi-instrumentalist. He is known as a solo artist, a film score composer, and as the lead vocalist, rhythm guitarist and keyboardist of the Seattle-based bands Sunny Day Real Estate and The Fire Theft. Biography Poor Old Lu, Sunny Day Real Estate, and first solo projects (1993–2000) Enigk was born in Seattle, Washington, to Gary E. Enigk and Sherry Hammond Enigk.
