Chris Serle
Christopher Richard Serle (13 July 1943 – 16 September 2024) was a British television presenter, reporter, and actor, best known for being a presenter on ''That's Life!'' Early life and career Serle was born in Henleaze, Bristol, on 13 July 1943. He was educated at Clifton College and Trinity College, Dublin, where he studied modern languages. He appeared as a foil for Irish comedian Dave Allen in his series ''Dave Allen at Large'' in 1971, but gained greater UK public recognition as one of the presenters on the TV series ''That's Life!''. He later presented a series in which he, and fellow former ''That's Life!'' presenter Paul Heiney, were pitched into professional situations with no prior knowledge in '' In at the Deep End''. Debrett's () is a British professional coaching company and publisher and authority on etiquette and behaviour, founded in 1769 with the publication of the first edition of ''The New Peerage''. The company takes its name from its founder, John Debrett. John Debrett John Debrett (8 January 1753 – 15 November 1822) was the London-born son of Jean Louys de Bret, a French cook of Huguenot extraction and his wife Rachel Panchaud. ''Runway'' is a British game show that aired on ITV from 12 October 1987 to 19 February 1993 and was originally hosted by Chris Serle in 1987, then by Richard Madeley from 1988 to 1993. Gameplay On each episode, three new contestants competed for the chance to win prizes and a holiday. Passport Round Two of the contestants were given clues as to the birth year of the third, including a newspaper front page from the day that contestant was born, and had to give different guesses at the year. The one whose guess was closer or exact received two points, after which the contestant with that birth year was asked three questions about it worth two points each. BBC Radio Bristol is the BBC's local radio station serving the cities of Bristol and Bath and the unitary authorities of Bath and North East Somerset, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire.
