Christopher (Chris) Ryan is an American politician serving as a member of the New York State Senate for the 50th district, which comprises Onondaga County and Oswego County, specifically the towns of Clay, Cicero, Camillus, Manlius, DeWitt, Geddes and Salina in Onondaga County and the cities of Fulton and Oswego in Oswego County. Ryan previously served as the Democratic minority leader in the Onondaga County Legislature and as a trade unionist. He was first elected to the legislature in 2011. He is also president of the Communications Workers of America, Local 1123. Ryan ran on a platform of "good-paying jobs, quality schools, health care access, safe and affordable communities, and smart economic investments for the future." John Mannion is an American politician. A Democrat, he is currently a member of the New York State Senate representing the 50th district. He was first elected in 2020. Prior to becoming a state senator, Mannion was a biology teacher. Mannion was elected to the 50th district of the New York State Senate in 2020, defeating Republican Angi Renna and becoming the first Democrat to hold the seat in more than 50 years.
