Chris Kientz
Chris Kientz is an American/Canadian writer, animator, television producer, television director, director and educator. He has worked on a number of reality TV and children's television series but is perhaps best known for his ongoing work on the award-winning Canadian/American television series, ''Raven Tales (TV series), Raven Tales''. His animation has also appeared at the Smithsonian Institution as well as animation festivals worldwide. He is board member of Kids First!, a children's media advocacy organization and the 2009 winner of the Kids First! PalmerVision award. He is also known as a writer for a 56-book series based on First Nation's trickster stories, written along with David Bouchard. He worked closely with Tribal Elders in the creation of these books for Scholastic. He is currently writing a history based series for the Smithsonian Institution called Secret Smithsonian. Animator
An animator is an artist who creates multiple images, known as frames, which give an illusion of movement called animation when displayed in rapid sequence. Animators can work in a variety of fields including film, television, and video games. Animation is closely related to filmmaking and like filmmaking is extremely labor-intensive, which means that most significant works require the collaboration of several animators. The methods of creating the images or frames for an animation piece depend on the animators' artistic styles and their field. Other artists who contribute to animated cartoons, but who are not animators, include layout artists (who design the backgrounds, lighting, and camera angles), storyboard artists (who draw panels of the action from the script), and background artists (who paint the "scenery"). A television producer is a person who oversees one or more aspects of video production on a television program. Some producers take more of an executive role, in that they conceive new programs and pitch them to the television networks, but upon acceptance they focus on business matters, such as budgets and contracts. Television Director
A television director is in charge of the activities involved in making a television program or section of a program. They are generally responsible for decisions about the editorial content and creative style of a program, and ensuring the producer's vision is delivered. Their duties may include originating program ideas, finding contributors, writing scripts, planning 'shoots', ensuring safety, leading the crew on location, directing contributors and presenters, and working with an editor to assemble the final product. Raven Tales (TV Series)
Raven Tales are the traditional human and animal creation stories of the indigenous peoples of the Pacific Northwest Coast. They are also found among Athabaskan-speaking peoples and others. Raven stories exist in nearly all of the First Nations throughout the region but are most prominent in the tales of the Haida, Tsimshian, Tlingit and Tahltan people. Raven and eagle are known by many different names by many different peoples and is an important figure among written and verbal stories. His tales are passed down through the generations of story tellers of the people and are of cultural and historical significance. The Smithsonian Institution ( ), or simply the Smithsonian, is a group of museums and education and research centers, the largest such complex in the world, created by the U.S. government "for the increase and diffusion of knowledge". David Bouchard
David Bouchard is a Canadian author and former high school principal. Bouchard was born and raised in Saskatchewan. He is a Member of the Order of Canada and a public school in Oshawa, Ontario is named after him. In his 2017 book, ''Proud to Be Métis'', Bouchard writes that his grandfather had Ojibwa and Osage roots, but never spoke of them. This was not uncommon in that era, as many Canadians of Metis background grew up in families that did not speak about their Métis background. In a book interview with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, Bouchard said, "We struggle with whether or not we have the right to reclaim that heritage, of if in fact because we weren't raised in that environment, we can even do that." White Sands Missile Range
White Sands Missile Range (WSMR) is a United States Army military testing area and firing range located in the US state of New Mexico. The range was originally established as the White Sands Proving Ground on 9July 1945. White Sands National Park is located within the range.
