Chris Jones (center)
Christopher Juan Jones (born June 26, 1964) is an American former professional football center who played one season with the New York Giants of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Delaware State University. He was also a member of the New York Knights of the Arena Football League (AFL). Early life and college Christopher Juan Jones was born on June 26, 1964, in Norfolk, Virginia. He attended East Orange High School in East Orange, New Jersey. He was a member of the Delaware State Hornets football team from 1982 to 1986. Professional career Jones went undrafted in the 1987 NFL draft. On September 25, 1987, he signed with the New York Giants during the 1987 NFL players strike. He started three games games for the team before the strike ended. Jones was released on October 19, 1987. Jones played in five games for the New York Knights of the Arena Football League (AFL) in 1988. Center (American Football)
Center or centre (C) is a position in American football. The center is the innermost Lineman (American football), lineman of the offensive line on a football team's Offense (sports), offense who passes (or "Snap (gridiron football), snaps") the ball between his legs to the quarterback at the start of each Play from scrimmage, play. During the period of the one-platoon system, centers frequently played defensively as "middle guards", off the opposing center on the opposite side of the line as with a modern nose tackle. Others played off the defensive line of scrimmage as linebackers. Roles The center's first role is to pass the football to the quarterback. This exchange is called a snap. The one-platoon system, also known as "iron man football", is a platoon system, rule-driven substitution pattern in American football whereby the same players were expected to stay on the field for the entire game, playing both offense and defense as required. Players removed for a substitute were lost to their teams for the duration of the half (until 1932) or quarter (until 1941). Existing alternatively is the two-platoon system (or simply the "platoon system"), which makes use of separate offensive and defensive units.
