Chris Corning
Chris Corning (born September 7, 1999) is an American snowboarder. He competed in big air and slopestyle at Winter X Games XXII. He won a bronze medal in slopestyle at the FIS Freestyle Ski and Snowboarding World Championships 2017. He was selected to participate in the 2018 Winter Olympics, placing 4th in the big air contest and 17th in slopestyle. In 2018 he placed 2nd in the Burton US Open, behind Mark McMorris. He won a gold medal in slopestyle at the FIS Freestyle Ski and Snowboarding World Championships 2019 in Utah. Silverthorne, Colorado
The Town of Silverthorne is a home rule municipality in Summit County, Colorado. According to the 2020 Census, the population of the city is 4,402. History The town was named for Judge Marshall Silverthorn who served as the judge of the miners' court in Breckenridge. The judge first came to town as a prospector and claimed a section of the Blue River in 1881. After patenting his claim in April 1882, he was disappointed to find the gold to be sparse and the claim a poor bet. The land passed to his daughters on his death in 1887 and was then sold several times to various mining companies. In 1953 Clayton Hill bought the property and subdivided it for homes and stores. Silverthorne served as a makeshift camp for workers during the construction of the Dillon Reservoir from 1961 to 1963, and later as a stop along Interstate 70. Slopestyle
Slopestyle is a winter sport in which athletes skiing, ski or snowboard down a course including a variety of obstacles including rails, jumps and other terrain park features. Points are scored for amplitude, originality and quality of tricks. The discipline has its roots in action sports like skateboarding and BMX and has very successfully crossed over into the snow sports worlds of skiing and snowboarding. Skiers use Twin-tip skis for their symmetry since they often go large portions of the course backward (referred to as "switch") and for their balanced weight so as to not destabilize spins. Slopestyle tricks fall mainly into four categories: spins, Grind (sport), grinds, grabs and Flip (acrobatic), flips, and most tricks done in competition are a combination of these.
