Chris Breen
Chris Breen (born June 29, 1989) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman. An undrafted player, Breen originally joined the Calgary Flames organization in 2010 and made his NHL debut with the team in 2013. He was later signed by the Boston Bruins as a free agent on July 1, 2014. Playing career Breen played five Ontario Hockey League (OHL) seasons between 2005 and 2010 with the Saginaw Spirit, Erie Otters and Peterborough Petes. A late-bloomer, he was not an OHL regular until his 18-year-old season and went unselected at the NHL Entry Draft. Noting his height – six feet, seven inches tall – the Calgary Flames took an interest in Breen and brought him to their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Abbotsford Heat, on a try-out when his junior season with Peterborough ended. Boston Bruins
The Boston Bruins are a professional ice hockey team based in Boston. ''The London Free Press'' is a daily newspaper based in London, Ontario, Canada. It has the largest circulation of any newspaper in Southwestern Ontario. History ''The London Free Press'' began as the ''Canadian Free Press'', founded by William Sutherland. It first began printing as a weekly newspaper on January 2, 1849. 2018–19 AHL Season
The 2018–19 AHL season was the 83rd season of the American Hockey League. The regular season began October 5, 2018, and ended April 15, 2019. The 2019 Calder Cup playoffs followed the conclusion of the regular season. This was the last year the Calder Cup was awarded until 2022. League changes The league expanded by adding the Colorado Eagles to the Pacific Division and moved the two Texas-based teams to the Central Division from the Pacific. The Cleveland Monsters were moved from the Central to the North Division. Similar to the California and Arizona teams in the Pacific Division, Colorado plays 68 games in the regular season. The Arizona Coyotes are an inactive professional ice hockey team based in the Phoenix metropolitan area. Two-way Contract
A two-way contract is a professional sports contract that stipulates that an athlete's salary is dependent upon the league in which the athlete is assigned to play. This is opposed to a one-way contract that would pay the same salary regardless of where the athlete is assigned to play. Basketball Beginning in the 2017–18 season, the National Basketball Association added two-way contracts between NBA teams and their minor league NBA G League affiliates. Through the 2022–23 season, each team could offer two contracts per season to players with fewer than four years of NBA experience; from 2023 to 2024, three such contracts per team are allowed. The ''Abbotsford News'' is a weekly newspaper in Abbotsford, British Columbia. It publishes Thursday and is owned by Black Press. History ''The News'' claims to be one of the first community newspapers in the province due to its roots from the ''Abbotsford Post'' established in 1906 by Mission publisher John A. Bates. The Post was sold in 1922 and changed its name to ''Abbotsford, Sumas and Matsqui News''. Other sales to new owners occurred in 1938 and 1962. Black Press purchased The News in 1997. 2012–13 AHL Season
The 2012–13 AHL season was the 77th season of the American Hockey League. The regular season began on October 12, 2012 and ended on April 21, 2013. The 2013 Calder Cup playoffs followed the conclusion of the regular season. The Calder Cup was won by the Grand Rapids Griffins for their first Calder Cup in franchise history. Regular season On June 28, the Board of Governors approved a minor realignment for the league for the 2012–13 season. The only changes were made in the Western Conference, as three teams swapped divisions for this season: Abbotsford moves to the North Division, Grand Rapids moves to the Midwest Division and Charlotte moves to the newly renamed South Division (formerly West Division).
