Choucha Camp
Choucha is a refugee camp in the south of Tunisia, in the Medenine Governorate, Medinine Governorate. The camp is located within 10 kilometers of the border crossing Ras Ajdir with Libya. The camp was opened on the 24th of February, 2011 and run by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, UNHCR, other Non-governmental organization, NGOs and the Tunisian authorities. Choucha camp hosted mainly Refugee, refugees who fled the conflict in Libya. The UNHCR officially closed the camp in 2013. Background In December 2010, the Jasmine Revolution in Tunisia, Jasmine Revolution in Tunisia started. This event sparked several uprisings in the Middle East and North Africa, also known as the Arab Spring. ''Médecins du monde'' (MdM; ), or Doctors of the World, is an international humanitarian organization which seeks to provide emergency and long-term medical care to the world's most vulnerable people. Danish Refugee Council (DRC) () is a private Danish humanitarian nonprofit organization, founded in 1956. It serves as an umbrella organization for 33 member organizations.
