Alexander Henry Haliday
Alexander Henry Haliday (1806–1870, also known as Enrico Alessandro Haliday, Alexis Heinrich Haliday, or simply Haliday) was an Ireland, Irish entomologist. He is primarily known for his work on Hymenoptera, Diptera, and Thysanoptera, but worked on all insect orders and on many aspects of entomology. Haliday was born in Carnmoney, County Antrim later living in Holywood, County Down, Holywood, County Down, Ireland. A boyhood friend of Robert Templeton, he divided his time between Ireland and Lucca, where he co-founded the La Società Entomologica Italiana, Italian Entomological Society with Camillo Rondani and Adolfo Targioni Tozzetti. He was a member of the Royal Irish Academy, the Belfast Natural History Society, the Royal Microscopical Society, Microscopical Society of London, and the Galileiana Academy of Arts and Science, as well as a fellow of the (now Royal) Royal Entomological Society, Entomological Society of London. Braconidae
The Braconidae are a family of parasitoid wasps. After the closely related Ichneumonidae, braconids make up the second-largest family in the order Hymenoptera, with about 17,000 recognized species and many thousands more undescribed. One analysis estimated a total between 30,000 and 50,000, and another provided a narrower estimate between 42,000 and 43,000 species. Classification The Braconidae are currently divided into about 47 subfamilies and over 1000 genera, which include ''Aerophilus'', ''Aleiodes'', ''Apanteles'', ''Asobara'', ''Bracon (wasp), Bracon'', ''Cenocoelius'', ''Chaenusa'', ''Chorebus'', ''Cotesia'', ''Dacnusa'', ''Diachasma'', ''Dimeris'', ''Microgaster'', ''Opius'', ''Parapanteles'', ''Phaenocarpa'', ''Spathius'', and ''Syntretus.'' These fall into two major groups, informally called the cyclostomes and noncyclostomes. In cyclostome braconids, the Labrum (arthropod mouthpart), labrum and the lower part of the Clypeus (arthropod anatomy), clypeus are concave ...

Encyclopedia Of Life
The Encyclopedia of Life (EOL) is a free, online encyclopedia intended to document all of the 1.9 million living species known to science. It aggregates content to form "pages" for every known species. Content is compiled from existing trusted databases which are curated by experts and it calls on the assistance of non-experts throughout the world. It includes video, sound, images, graphics, information on characteristics, as well as text. In addition, the Encyclopedia incorporates species-related content from the Biodiversity Heritage Library, which digitizes millions of pages of printed literature from the world's major natural history libraries. The BHL digital content is indexed with the names of organisms using taxonomic indexing software developed by the Global Names project. The EOL project was initially backed by a US$50 million funding commitment, led by the MacArthur Foundation and the Sloan Foundation, who provided US$20 million and US$5 million, respectively. The add ...

Chorebus Thorpei
''Chorebus thorpei'' is a species of parasitoid wasp belonging to the family Braconidae. The species was first described by Jocelyn A. Berry in 2007, and is endemic to New Zealand. Taxonomy The species was identified by Jocelyn A. Berry in 2007, based on a holotype collected by Stephen E. Thorpe from Little Windy Hill on Great Barrier Island in the Auckland Region, New Zealand in February 2002. The first known specimen of this species was collected in 1982, but was only recognised as a member of this species in 2007. Berry named the species after Thorpe. Description Females of the species have a forewing length of , while males range between . The species has dark-brown antennae with an orange-brown head. The species can be distinguished from other members of '' Chorebus'' due to the presence of two submarginal cells, a fourth tooth on the species' mandible, an unsculptured and linear sternaulus, long antennae, and a predominantly uniform orange-brown colour. Distribution an ...
