Choe Ryong-su ( ko, 최룡수) was a North Korean politician. He was a member of the Workers' Party of Korea. Workers' Party Of Korea
The Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) is the founding and sole ruling party of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, commonly known as North Korea. Founded in 1949 from the merger of the Workers' Party of North Korea and the Workers' Party of South Korea, the WPK is the oldest active party in Korea. It also controls the Korean People's Army, North Korea's armed forces. The WPK is the largest party represented in the Supreme People's Assembly and coexists with two other legal parties making up the Democratic Front for the Reunification of Korea. However, these minor parties are completely subservient to the WPK and must accept the WPK's "leading role" as a condition of their existence. The WPK is banned in South Korea (Republic of Korea) under the National Security Act and is sanctioned by the United Nations, the European Union, Australia, and the United States. Ministry Of Social Security (North Korea)
The Ministry of Social Security is a law enforcement agency in North Korea. Unlike most ministers in North Korea, which operate under the Cabinet, the Ministry of Social Security is directly supervised by the State Affairs Commission. The current minister is Ri Yong-gil. According to Fyodor Tertitskiy, columnist at NK News, prospective officers are chosen by recommendation by a local WPK Committee, although some are chosen because of their songbun status. He further contends that bribery represents a regular aspect of interactions between North Koreans and the police. History The ministry was first created as the Political Security Bureau (Korean: 정치보안국) on November 19, 1945. The bureau became a subordinate to the Ministry of Internal Affairs in September 1948. Ju Sang-song (born August 1933) is a North Korean politician and former Minister of People's Security. Biography Ju Sang-song was born in Kangwon-do Province in 1933, joined the Korean People's Army in June 1951, and later attended the Kim Il-sung Military University. Paek Hak-rim
Paek Hak-rim (October 1918 – October 5, 2006) was the Deputy Director of the North Korean Ministry of Public Security. He occupied a number of high-ranking positions, including serving from 1998 to 2003 on the National Defense Commission. He was also the Minister of People's Security from 1998 to 2003. Biography Paek was born in South Pyongan Province, and served in the guerrilla armies of the Korean independence movement before 1945. He also served in the North Korean army after independence, reaching the rank of Major General in 1958 and Lieutenant General in 1962. In 1962, he was appointed Director of the Political Security Bureau of the Ministry of National Defense and promoted to lieutenant general. In March 1970, he was appointed Deputy Minister of Social Security. In November 1970, he was elected to the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, and in August 1978, he was appointed deputy Minister of the People's Armed Forces.
