FC Chkherimela Kharagauli ( Georgian: სკ ჩხერიმელა) was a Georgian football club based in the town of Kharagauli. History Founded in 1982, the club participated the lower leagues of the Georgian SSR Championships until 1997. Twelve years later the team resumed their activities as ''Chkherimela 2009'' and took part in the third division. They gained promotion to Pirveli Liga where retained their place up until 2016. Having been accused of involvement in a match-fixing scandal, Chkherimela were deducted six points, fined and expelled from the competition. The team played in Liga 3 for one year before being relegated to Regionuli Liga. In 2018 the club was subjected to reorganization and reduction of financial assistance by five times compared to previous three years. Based on complaints from two former coaches, the next year the district court in Kutaisi and the Supreme Court ruled that Chkherimela owed them around 20 thousand lari. In 2018 a Georgian record ...

Kharagauli
Kharagauli ( ka, ხარაგაული ) is an administrative center of Kharagauli district in Georgia. It is situated on both banks of river in a narrow and deep gorge, 280-400m above the sea level. Founding It was founded as a railway station in the 1870s, when the Poti-Tbilisi railway was built. Kharagauli assumed an administrative, later an economic, function. Geography In the west entrance of the area, the Chkherimela river flows through a narrow gorge. On the left bank of the river, there are two statues of giants; on the right, two large holes. This area, referred to as "the giant's hole" serves as a minor tourist attraction. The riverbank also has a large park. The Georgian Erovnuli Liga 2 ( ka, ეროვნული ლიგა 2; ), organized since 1990 by the GFF, serves as the second division of professional football in Georgia. The league was introduced for the 2017 season under the current name as a part of reorganization process of the entire league system. It was formerly known as Pirveli liga (the First league). Structure There are ten clubs competing in Erovnuli Liga 2. During the season each club plays each other four times, twice at home and twice away. At the end of each season the winner gains automatic promotion and the bottom club is relegated. The runner-up and 3rd placed team participate in two-legged home and away play-off matches against the 9th and 8th placed clubs of Erovnuli Liga, respectively. Liga 3 ( ka, ლიგა 3), organized by the Georgian Football Federation, is the third division of professional football in Georgia. Introduced for the 2017 season with the launch of the Erovnuli Liga, it is a rebrand of the former Meore Liga (the Second League). The current holders are Gonio. Structure and league system There were 20 teams competing in the league in 2017. Regionuli Liga ( Georgian: რეგიონული ლიგა), run by Georgian Football Federation since 1990, is the fifth and lowest division of the Georgian league system after Erovnuli Liga, Erovnuli Liga 2, Liga 3 and Liga 4. Its participants are both professional clubs and reserve teams of higher league members. Prior to the introduction of Liga 4 in 2019, Regionuli Liga was the fourth tier. Structure As the name implies, the league is based on regional principle. Depending on the number of participating clubs, it is divided into several groups. In 2017, there were forty teams allocated in three groups. The next year two zones were created for teams based in western Georgia and two more for the eastern regions.
