Chipollino (film)
''Chipollino'' () is a 1972 Soviet musical film, musical comedy film directed by Tamara Lisitsian. The film is also known as ''Cipollino'' (International informal title and English / Italian title). Plot In a village where the onion boy Cipollino, Chipollino lives, the townsfolk gather in the market square to welcome the visiting Prince Lemon. In the crowded square, Cipollino’s father, Cipollone, accidentally steps on the prince’s foot and is thrown into prison as a supposed rebel and troublemaker. The steward of the Cherry Countesses, Señor Tomato, following his mistresses’ orders, evicts poor neighbor Uncle Pumpkin from his tiny home. Prince Lemon needs the land for a new military base, designed by foreign military advisor Mr. Carrot. The Cherry Countesses issue a decree stating that villagers must now pay rent not only for their homes but also for the air they breathe, as well as for rain, snow, hail, and other forms of precipitation. Tamara Lisitsian
Tamara Nikolaevna Lisitsian (, ; 3 March 1923 – 29 November 2009) was a Soviet film director and screenwriter, who received the Honored Artist of the RSFSR in 1985. Biography Lisitsian was born on 3 March 1923 in Tiflis (now Tbilisi) to Marfa Ivanovna and Nikolai Pavlovich Lisitsian. On her father's side, she was a cousin of the opera singer Paval Lisitsian. Lisitsian's father died when she was nine years old, leaving her mother to raise her daughter on her own. In 1939, Lisitsian attended the acting department of the Tbilisi Theatre University, and in 1941, she was moved to the Moscow City Theatre School, where she completed her studies from 1944 to 1946. When the Great Patriotic War broke out in 1941, Listisian requested to Аlexander Shelepin at the Moscow City Committee of the Komsomol to be sent to the front. Natalia Leonidovna Krachkovskaya (, née Belogortseva; 24 November 1938 – 3 March 2016) was a Soviet and Russian actress, Meritorious Artist (1998). Belogortseva was born in Moscow, Soviet Union. After graduation, she submitted documents to VGIK on the course of Vladimir Belokurov. In 1958, Natalia Belogortseva was married to sound engineer, Vladimir Krachkovsky. In marriage, their son Vasily was born (June 8, 1963). For more than 50 years of film career, Krachkovskaya starred in about 90 films. Usually she played minor, but characteristic roles. He performed in more than fifty films between 1959 and 1977 and was a Merited Artist of the Russian Federation. Early life Aleksei Smirnov was born on 28 February 1920, in the town of Danilov, Yaroslavl Oblast, to the Smirnov family: Makar Stepanovich Smirnov and Anna Ivanovna. In the mid-1920s they moved to Leningrad. After her husband's early death Anna Ivanovna had to raise her two children on her own – Aleksei had a younger brother Arkady.
