Chingo
Volcán Chingo is a stratovolcano on the border between Guatemala and El Salvador. The highest point on the Guatemala/ El Salvador border is Volcán Chingo at 5,823 feet. It is also known to be the second highest of a group of volcanoes in the SE Guatemala region. The population of people living within 30 km of the Volcán Chingo is estimated to be around 867,678 people. There are no historical eruptions documented for this volcano but it is currently active. The exact volcano number when trying to locate it in the Smithsonian website is 342170. Geology This symmetrical stratovolcano has many different features that make it stand out to be the highest point on the border between Guatemala and El Salvador. The El Salvador–Guatemala border is a international boundary in the northeast–southwest direction, northwest of El Salvador, and separating the country from the territory of Guatemala. From north to south, it starts in the triple border of the two countries with Honduras, near the peak ''Monte Cristo'' in ''Volcanoes National Park'', extending to the southwest by the Pacific Ocean coast, following the final stage the Rio Paz. It separates the department of Jutiapa in Guatemala from Ahuachapan (north) and Santa Ana departments in El Salvador. Jutiapa Department
Jutiapa Department is a Departments of Guatemala, department of Guatemala that borders along El Salvador and the Pacific Ocean. The capital is the city of Jutiapa. As of 2018, it has a population of 488,395. The department is divided into seventeen municipalities. Jutiapa is the country's southeasternmost department and officially the only department with no Mayan descendants native to the region. The main crops are sorghum, tobacco, onion and maize, corn. The climate is dry. An important attraction is the cattle fair. It is at 405 m above sea level. A stratovolcano, also known as a composite volcano, is a typically conical volcano built up by many alternating layers (strata) of hardened lava and tephra. Unlike shield volcanoes, stratovolcanoes are characterized by a steep profile with a summit crater and explosive eruptions. Some have collapsed summit craters called calderas. The lava flowing from stratovolcanoes typically cools and solidifies before spreading far, due to high viscosity.
