Chinese In Palau
Chinese have been settling in Palau in small numbers since the 19th century. The early settlers consisted of traders and labourers, and often intermarried with Palauan women. Their offspring quickly assimilated with the local populace and generally identify themselves as Palauan. Yutaka Gibbons
Yutaka Miller Gibbons (17 January 1944 – 4 November 2021) was the ibedul of Koror from 1973 until his death in 2021. He was also an anti–nuclear weapons activist and political candidate. Early and personal life Gibbons was born in Palau in 1944. He was of English, Chinese and royal Palauan descent. His younger sister Gloria Salii holds the title of bilung which the female counterpart of ibedul and makes her the highest ranking female chief in Palau. His brother John C. Gibbons was governor of Koror and his other brother Alexander Merep succeeded him as ibedul. Career He worked as a United States Army cook before becoming paramount chief and his sudden departure to become a member of nobility shocked members of his unit at the Presidio of San Francisco as well as others he had earlier served with in West Germany. Ulong Island
Ulong is a major island and channel of western Palau. It is sometimes called Aulong and originally written Oroolong in English. Ulong is regarded by many as one of the best drift dives in the world. Geography Ngerumekaol Pass, also known as Ulong Channel, partially cuts through the reef near the Island. The channel stretches about , with an average width of and leads into a coral reef lagoon. There are sharks within the currents of the channel and Ulong Corner. The channel contains giant clams and one of the largest known patches of green lettuce coral in the world. Uruktapel is the largest island southward of Koror; at about off its western point is Ulong. The South Seas Mandate, officially the Mandate for the German Possessions in the Pacific Ocean Lying North of the Equator, was a League of Nations mandate in the " South Seas" given to the Empire of Japan by the League of Nations following World War I. Chamorro People
The Chamorro people (; also Chamoru) are the Indigenous peoples of Oceania, Indigenous people of the Mariana Islands, politically divided between the Territories of the United States, United States territory of Guam and the encompassing Northern Mariana Islands, Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands in Micronesia, a commonwealth of the US. Angaur

Traditional features within clan areas represent important symbols giving identity to families, clans and regions .
