Chin Ho Kelly is a fictional character from CBS' '' Hawaii Five-O''. He was portrayed by Kam Fong in the original show from 1968 to 1978, and later by Daniel Dae Kim in the series' remake from 2010 to 2017. ''Hawaii Five-O'' (1968–1978) In the original show, Chin Ho Kelly was portrayed by Kam Fong from 1968 to 1978. Fong played the role for the first ten seasons, appearing in 237 episodes. The only episodes of the first ten seasons that Fong did not appear in were " Once Upon a Time: Part 2", and " The Ninety-Second War (Part 2)". The character was killed off in the season ten finale, "A Death in the Family". Even though the character had been killed off, Fong returned to reprise the role of Chin in the 1997 unaired pilot of ''Hawaii Five-O''. Kam Fong Chun
Kam Fong Chun (born Kam Tong Chun; May 27, 1918 – October 18, 2002) was an American police officer and actor, best known for his role as Chin Ho Kelly, a police detective on the CBS television network series '' Hawaii Five-O''. Life Kam Fong Chun was born in the Kalihi neighborhood of Honolulu, Hawaii. A 1938 graduate of President William McKinley High School, he worked at Pearl Harbor shipyard in his 20s as a boiler maker and was a witness to the attack by the Japanese on December 7, 1941. After the death of his first wife and two eldest children in 1944, he applied for a job as a police officer at the Honolulu Police Department. He served there for 16 years. After his retirement from the police force, he worked as a disc jockey and sold real estate in addition to doing community theater. Chun's life was filled with tragedies. The Chin Haw or Chin Ho (; th, จีนฮ่อ, ), also known locally as Yunnanese ( zh, 雲南人, th, คนยูนนาน), are Chinese people who migrated to Thailand via Myanmar or Laos.
