{{More citations needed, date=December 2019 Child Focus (or the European Center for Missing and Sexually Exploited Children) is a Belgian foundation that supports prevention and investigation of missing children, abducted children, runaway children, and sexually abused and exploited children, along with psychological and legal support to the victims. They also follow their cases and sometimes ensure they are treated with due care by the persons in charge. Finally, they help and spread the information about missing children by publishing their pictures and descriptions in newspapers, magazines, etc. Since 1998, Child Focus has treated 3,000 cases a year, and closed 70% of them within the year. Jean-Luc Dehaene
Jean Luc Joseph Marie "Jean-Luc" Dehaene (; 7 August 1940 – 15 May 2014) was a Belgian politician who served as the prime minister of Belgium from 1992 until 1999. During his political career, he was nicknamed "The Plumber" and "The Minesweeper" for his ability to negotiate political deadlocks. A member of the ''Christen-Democratisch en Vlaams'' (CD&V) party and its antecedents, Dehaene gained his first ministerial appointment in 1981. Dehaene's first government (1992–1995) included both Christian and Social Democrats and presided over the creation of a new constitution, effectively transforming Belgium into a federal state. His second government (1995–1999) coincided with a number of crises in Belgium including the Dutroux scandal. Claude Lelièvre
Claude Lelièvre (born 19 May 1946) is the Commissioner for Children Rights of the French (i.e., French-speaking) Community of Belgium, an office similar to the Children's Ombudsman agencies elsewhere. In 1994, he falsely denounced Belgian journalist Pierre Swennen as a paedophile, based on false information provided by Marie-France Botte, notably causing Swennen to lose his job. The claim was unfounded but Lelièvre refused to reveal his source, preventing a proper investigation. In 2004, it was finally proven that the accusation was false, and Botte was ordered to pay substantial damages. Michel Fourniret
Michel Paul Fourniret (4 April 1942 – 10 May 2021) was a French serial killer who confessed to killing 12 people in France and Belgium between 1987 and 2003. After he was arrested in June 2003 for the attempted kidnapping of a teenage girl in Ciney, Fourniret confessed to killing nine people — eight females and one male — in 2004, having been informed on by his then-wife, Monique Pierrette Olivier (born 31 October 1948). Fourniret was convicted of seven of these murders on 28 May 2008 and sentenced to life imprisonment without possibility of parole, while Olivier was given life with a minimum term of 28 years for complicity. In February 2018, Fourniret confessed to killing two more women.
