Chief Commissioner Of Bergen
The Chief Commissioner of Bergen (Norwegian: ''Byrådsleder'') is the acting mayor and head of the city government in Bergen, the second largest city in Norway. The position was created on 26 June 2000 when Bergen adopted the parliamentary system. All members of the City Government is elected by Bergen City Council. Formation Prior to adopting the parliamentary system, Bergen was governed by the principle of an executive committee, elected from members of the City Council, and a permanent appointed chief officer. According to Norwegian law the matter of adopting a parliamentary system has to be voted over twice, in two subsequent terms. The first vote was held 26 October 1998, and 44 of the 67 city council members supported the proposition. The second vote was held on 25 October 1999, and with the support from 42 members of the city council, the decision was made to introduce the parliamentary system on 26 June the following year. Rune Bakervik
Rune Bakervik (born 19 November 1970) is a Norwegian politician for the Labour Party. He served as Chief Commissioner of Bergen from 2022 to 2023, and previously served as mayor, deputy mayor and city commissioner for urban development. Background Bakervik was born in Laksevåg, but grew up in Fyllingsdalen. He studied social science and later started with a major in sociology, but didn't finish it. He later took further education in labour law and management. He has been the regional leader for the Union of Employees in Commerce and Offices since 2011. In his personal time, Bakervik has supported the SK Brann football team. He has also been a leader of the fan club and tournament leader. He is married and has one child. 2011 Norwegian Local Elections
Nationwide local elections for seats in municipality and county councils were held throughout Norway on 12 September 2011. Several municipalities also opened the polling booths on 11 September. Ragnhild Stolt-Nielsen (born 16 April 1969) is a Norwegian politician, political scientist, and academic administrator of the Conservative Party. She served as Bergen's Chief Commissioner from 2013 to 2014 when she lost her nomination for the 2015 local elections to Martin Smith-Sivertsen. Life and career Stolt-Nielsen earned a master's degree in political science from the University of Bergen in 1995. Stolt-Nielsen was elected to the city council of Bergen in 1999, and she held that position until 2003. During that period she was chair of the council steering committee. She was again elected to city council in 2007, and she served as City Council Leader from 2013 to 2014. Bryggen (''the dock''), also known as Tyskebryggen (, ''the German dock''), is a series of Hanseatic heritage commercial buildings lining up the eastern side of the Vågen harbour in the city of Bergen, Norway. Bryggen has been on the UNESCO list for World Cultural Heritage sites since 1979. The city of Bergen was founded around 1070 within the boundaries of Tyskebryggen. Åsane is a borough of the city of Bergen in Vestland county, Norway. The borough makes up the northern part of the city, north of the city centre. Åsane is connected to downtown Bergen by the E16/ E39 highway. The E16 highway continues on through Åsane to the southeast to the neighboring borough of Arna. The E39 highway continues north through Åsane to the Nordhordland Bridge and then on to the northern municipalities in Vestland county. There are plans to shorten the E39 highway through Åsane, including the construction of two tunnels: Eikås Tunnel (start of construction 2010) and the Nyborg Tunnel (still in the planning stages). Bergen Light Rail
Bergen Light Rail ( no, Bybanen) is a light rail system in Bergen, Norway. The first stage of the project was a twenty-station stretch between the city center and Lagunen Storsenter, where the first 15 stations comprising a stretch opened in 2010, and the second was a stretch from Nesttun to Lagunen which opened in June 2013. A third stretch from Lagunen to Bergen Airport, Flesland opened in 2017. The second line between Kaigaten and Fyllingsdalen opened on 21 November 2022. Roger Valhammer (born 15 March 1984) is a Norwegian politician from the Labour Party. He served as chief commissioner of Bergen from 2019 to 2022, and previously served as city commissioner for schools, kindergartens and sports between 2018 and 2019. Background Personal life Valhammer grew up in Tysvær in Rogaland. His father was a painter and his mother worked in a shop. He moved to Bergen to study, and later settled there permanently. Harald Schjelderup (politician)
Harald Krabbe Schjelderup (21 May 1895 – 19 August 1974) was a Norwegian physicist, philosopher and psychologist. He worked with all three subjects on university level, but is best remembered as Norway's first professor of psychology. He was born in DypvÃ¥g as a son of bishop Kristian Schjelderup (1853–1913) and Hendy Hassel (1855–1922). He was a brother of Kristian Schjelderup Jr, he too a bishop. He finished his secondary education at Kristiansand Cathedral School in 1912, and graduated in physics from the Royal Frederick University. Here he also worked as research assistant of Lars Vegard.
