Chico Xavier () or Francisco Cândido Xavier, born Francisco de Paula Cândido (, 2 April 1910 – 30 June 2002), was a popular Brazilian philanthropist and spiritist medium. During a period of 60 years he wrote over 490 books and several thousand letters claiming to use a process known as "psychography". ''O Maior Brasileiro de Todos os Tempos'' (') was a public poll contest organized by the Brazilian broadcasting station Sistema Brasileiro de Televisão, SBT and hosted by Carlos Nascimento to rank the most outstanding Brazilian personalities. Based on BBC's ''100 Greatest Britons'', it featured individual documentaries advocating the top ten candidates. After three months of voting and more than a million votes recorded, one hundred persons were selected, appointed by the thousands of Brazilians. The final episode aired on October 3, 2012. Pedro Leopoldo
Pedro Leopoldo is a Brazilian municipality in the state of Minas Gerais. The city is located in the Greater Belo Horizonte region. According to the most recent census of the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics, the population of the city was 62,580 in 2022. The city is birthplace to prominent medium Chico Xavier and 1970 World Champion and Cruzeiro footballer Dirceu Lopes. The municipality contains 44% of the Sumidouro State Park, created in 1980. The Casa Fernão Dias is in the Quinta do Sumidouro district of Pedro Leopoldo. It is listed by the State Institute of Historic and Artistic Heritage (IEPHA) as a cultural heritage monument. Humberto de Campos Veras (Humberto de Campos, Miritiba, October 25, 1886 – Rio de Janeiro, December 5, 1934) was a Brazilian journalist, politician and Literature, writer. Biography He was the son of Joaquim Gomes de Farias Veras and Ana de Campos Veras of modest origins. He was born in what was then the municipality of Miritiba in Maranhão and which is today named after him. After the death of his father, at age six, he moved to São Luís where he started to work in a local business to support his family. At age 17 he moved again, this time to Pará, where he started his journalistic activity at the ''Folha do Norte'' and ''A Província do Pará''. Fred Figner (2 December 1866 Milevsko - 19 January 1947), also known as Frederico Figner, born as Friedrich Figner, was an Austrian Empire-born entrepreneur, and cinema and music industry pioneer mostly in South America. Biography Figner was Jewish emigrant who lived in the United States and landed in Belém, Brazil in 1891. He traveled to many regions of Brazil doing public exhibitions of Edison's phonograph. Manuel da Nóbrega, SJ (old spelling ''Manoel da Nóbrega'') (18 October 1517 – 18 October 1570) was a Portuguese Jesuit priest and the first provincial of the Society of Jesus in colonial Brazil.
