Iron County, Michigan
Iron County is a county in the Upper Peninsula of the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2020 Census, the population was 11,631. The county seat is Crystal Falls. History Iron County was organized in 1885, with territory partitioned from Marquette and Menominee counties. In 1890, the county's population was 4,432. It was named for the valuable iron ore found within its borders. Geography According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has an area of , of which is land and (3.7%) is water. Along with Dickinson County, it is one of only two landlocked counties in the Upper Peninsula. Major highways * – runs east–west through lower part of county.
