Chicago Lighting Institute
The Chicago Lighting Institute opened on April 11, 1930 as an educational and marketing association for the lighting industry in the Midwest. Supported by five full corporate members and fifty associate corporate members, it sought to acquaint architects, interior designers, electrical engineers, urban planners and the general public with the latest developments and applications in lighting. It was the largest cooperative Institute fostering better lighting practices in the United States and, as such, was the pioneer U.S. institution promoting appropriate use of light in the earlier years of the lighting industry. Nela Park
Nela Park is the headquarters of GE Lighting, a Savant company and is located in East Cleveland, Ohio, United States. Nela Park is the first industrial park in the world being home to most of the lighting breakthroughs of the last century. The institute was first organized by entrepreneurs Franklin Terry and Burton Tremaine of the National Electric Lamp Company. Development of the site was started in 1911 when the National Electric Lamp Association (NELA), formed by John Robert Crouse, Sr, J.B. Crouse, and H.A. Tremaine in 1901, was dissolved and absorbed into General Electric. It was the first industrial park in the world, and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1975. The Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) is a private university in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The campus is in the East Town neighborhood of downtown Milwaukee. The school's enrollment of 2,820 includes 224 graduate students. As of fall 2018, the university has a total of 138 full-faculty, more than 33% of which are women.
