Chiayi Confucian Temple
The Chiayi Confucian Temple () is a Confucian temple in Chiayi Park, East District, Chiayi City, Taiwan. History The temple was originally built in 1706. In 1815, the temple restoration stele was inscribed and erected. In 1907, an earthquake occurred in the city and the Confucian Tablet was moved to Wenchang Hall and later re-housed at Nanmen Shengshen Temple. In 1961, the Confucian Temple was rebuilt inside Chiayi Park and the Temple Restoration Stele was re-erected in the garden of the new temple. In 1964, the new Confucian Temple was completed and the Confucian Tablet was returned to Dacheng Hall. Transportation The temple is accessible within walking distance south east of Beimen Station of the Alishan Forest Railway. Chiayi City
Chiayi (,), officially known as Chiayi City, is a Provincial city (Taiwan), city located in Chianan Plain in Regions of Taiwan, southwestern Taiwan, surrounded by Chiayi County with a population of 263,188 inhabitants as of January 2023. The Hoanya people inhabited present-day Chiayi under its historical name of ''Tirosen'' prior to the arrival of Han Chinese in Taiwan and was ruled by the Dutch Formosa, Dutch and the Kingdom of Tungning under various names. During the Taiwan under Qing rule, Qing dynasty, Tirosen was governed as part of Taiwan Prefecture in Fuchien Province, Republic of China, Fujian under Zhuluo County and the city was renamed Kagee in 1787. Chiayi Park
Chiayi Park () is a park at East District, Chiayi City, Taiwan. History Originally named "Chiayi Park," the park was established in 1911 during the Meiji era of Japanese colonial rule. It was renamed Zhongshan Park during the Kuomintang government era but returned to its original name in 1997. Covering 268,000 square meters, Chiayi Park has expanded to include bridges, roads, and a thoughtfully designed landscape. The park's appeal lies in its blend of towering old trees, waterside pavilions, and historic landmarks, such as the Martyrs' Shrine, Chiayi Tower, and the Alishan Forest Railway No. 21 steam locomotive. Beimen Railway Station
Beimen () (literally "North gate") is a railway station on the Forestry Bureau Alishan Forest Railway line located in East District, Chiayi City, Taiwan. History The station was opened on 1 October 1912. On 16 May 1998 the original station building caught in fire which resulted the 40% burning of station right side. The Chiayi Forest District Office then planned a budget to restore the station and restoration work with red cypress was completed on 7 November the same year. In August 1999, section of the railway between Fenqihu Station and Alishan Station was badly damaged by Typhoon Morakot. On 20 September 1999, it was damaged again by the 1999 Jiji earthquake. After restoration efforts, a successful trail run of the train between Beimen Station and Alishan Station was made on 16 September 2015.
