Chiayi Botanical Garden
The Chiayi Botanical Garden () is a botanical garden in East District, Chiayi City, Taiwan belongs to the Taiwan Forestry Research Institute of Council of Agriculture. History The botanical garden was established in 1908. Geology The botanical garden spreads across an 8.6 hectares of land. It is an experimental ground for planning and developing economical tropical trees. Currently there are 140 tree species in the garden, which is further classified into 47 families and 107 classes. Chiayi
Chiayi (,), officially known as Chiayi City, is a Provincial city (Taiwan), city located in Chianan Plain in Regions of Taiwan, southwestern Taiwan, surrounded by Chiayi County with a population of 263,188 inhabitants as of January 2023. The Hoanya people inhabited present-day Chiayi under its historical name of ''Tirosen'' prior to the arrival of Han Chinese in Taiwan and was ruled by the Dutch Formosa, Dutch and the Kingdom of Tungning under various names. During the Taiwan under Qing rule, Qing dynasty, Tirosen was governed as part of Taiwan Prefecture in Fuchien Province, Republic of China, Fujian under Zhuluo County and the city was renamed Kagee in 1787. The Taiwan Forestry Research Institute (TFRI; ) is a research institute under the Ministry of Agriculture of Taiwan dealing with forestry. History The Taipei Botanical Garden was originally established as a nursery on 6 January 1896 during the Japanese era as the Taihoku Nursery. In 1911, on the foundation of Taipei Nursery, the Forestry Experimental Station was established to handle the management of forest in Taiwan. In 1921, the Japanese government unified all research institutes in Taiwan and established the Central Research Institute which included the Forestry Experimental Station but was named the Forestry Division of the Central Research Institute. In 1939, the Central Research Institute was reorganized and the Forestry Division was made independent named Forestry Research Institute. The tropics are the regions of Earth surrounding the equator, where the sun may shine directly overhead.
